SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – An inmate who left a San Diego re-entry facility on Wednesday was apprehended in the North County..California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation officials said 51-year-old Larry Johnson “walked away from the Male Community Re-entry Program (MCRP) facility” on Boston Avenue in Barrio Logan Wednesday night.Staff at the facility learned Johnson’s GPS device “had been tampered with” at around 10:30 p.m. Johnson was last seen in the afternoon on an “approved pass to attend work.”Local law enforcement agencies were notified of Johnson’s disappearance, and CDCR agents fanned out to find him.At around 10:30 a.m. Thursday, CDCR officials said Johnson was taken into custody at a hotel in Carlsbad without incident. He will be transported and rehoused at Richard J Donovan Correctional Facility, officials said.CDCR officials said Johnson was in the midst of a 4-year sentence for one count of attempt to use an ID of another to obtain information, which was his second-strike offense.Johnson had been scheduled to be released to probation in May 2021. 1087

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A woman died and her son was hospitalized after a shooting at a Linda Vista home early Monday morning.According to San Diego police, officers were called to the 2200 block of Crandall Drive at around 3:15 a.m. in response to a report of gunfire in a home.Officers arrived to find a male and female down with gunshot wounds to their upper bodies.The victims were taken to the hospital, but the woman -- identified by police as a 46-year-old Vietnamese female -- died from her injuries.The injured man -- described by police as a 28-year-old Vietnamese male -- is on life support, but police noted that he is not expected to survive his injuries.Police said they were not actively searching for a suspect, as they believe one of the victims was the shooter. 783

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A woman was accused of leaving her dog behind in a hot car in a Mission Valley parking lot while she was shopped Tuesday.The confrontation occurred at Fenton Marketplace in Mission Valley after a man noticed a dog locked in a car and called San Diego County Animal Control. Officers arrived two hours later and measured the temperature of the car, which was reportedly between 80 - 90 degrees.The windows of the vehicle had also been cracked a couple of inches.RELATED: How to save a dog from a hot car (if you're a Californian)When the vehicle's owner returned, the man who reported the situation confronted her. The woman told him she was from Oregon and it's common to leave dogs in the car.Her dog was reportedly fine and not under distress, despite spending two hours in the hot car.In California, it's illegal to leave a dog inside a hot car in dangerous conditions. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A San Diego mother is responding to a disturbing video showing a woman screaming racial slurs and threats at her son, a black man, outside a downtown luxury apartment building early Tuesday morning.Shawni Crawley told 10News the incident occurred while her 29-year-old son, Rodney Jackson, was working as a security guard at the Pinnacle on The Park apartments located at 424 15th St. in San Diego's East Village neighborhood.The video, posted by Jackson's brother, doesn't clearly reveal the woman's identity. In his public Facebook post, his brother wrote: "A snippet of an incident with my brother and a racist white woman downtown San Diego!!!
