The gunman who opened fire at the Gilroy Garlic Festival in Northern California over the weekend likely acted alone, police said Tuesday.He was seen by himself in surveillance footage retrieved from the stores he visited before the shooting, Gilroy Police Chief Scot Smithee told reporters."Our investigation is leading us more and more to believe that there was not a second person involved," Smithee said. The CDC has issued new guidance to nursing homes nationwide on Friday. The guidance calls for all nursing home visits to be prohibited, except in end-of-life situations. The guidance, which goes into effect immediately, comes as spread of the coronavirus grows nationally, and is particularly dangerous for the elderly and disabled. The Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office has issued a shelter in place notification because of the release of hazardous materials from a refinery fire in Northern California.Firefighters were responding to two petroleum tanks on fire at a NuStar Energy facility in Crockett, located south of Vallejo, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, or CAL FIRE, said Tuesday on Twitter. The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is investigating a deadly shooting early Monday morning at the Islamic Society of Tampa Bay.Deputies say just before midnight, two men got into an argument in the parking lot outside the mosque during a Ramadan event attended by several hundred people.At some point during the argument, one of the men fired at the other.An off-duty deputy, who had just finished working security detail at the event, heard the gun shots and rushed to the parking lot.The Sheriff's Office reports the deputy found one man holding a gun and another man who had been shot at least two times. The deputy detained the suspect shooter until additional units arrived on scene.Paramedics rushed the victim to Tampa General Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.Authorities say the public is not in danger. They believe the two men knew one other and were both attending prayer services at the mosque.Homicide detectives are interviewing the shooter who is cooperating.
