BEIJING, Oct. 26 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier Wang Qishan met Chairman of the Presidential Committee for the G20 Summit of the Republic of Korea (ROK) II SaKong Tuesday in Beijing. BEIJING, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) -- China on Wednesday vowed to boost military cooperation with Thailand. BEIJING, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) -- A senior Chinese official Wednesday urged local governments to cooperate with the central government in supervision and inspection work.He Guoqiang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, made the remarks at a meeting on central inspection work.Head of the country's discipline and supervision work, He asked officials of local governments, especially those at the county level, to cooperate with central government's inspection teams.The CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, the Ministry of Supervision and other central government agencies have sent inspection teams to more than 900 counties around the country since October 2007 when CPC's 17th National Congress was held.The official said the central government's inspection work is very important for anti-corruption efforts at state-run enterprises.He also pledged to send inspection teams to every state-run enterprise every five years.

BEIJING, Oct. 20 (Xinhua) -- Senior Chinese and U.S. officials vowed here Wednesday to boost cooperation in law enforcement and make joint efforts to improve bilateral ties.The pledge came when Zhou Yongkang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, met with visiting U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.Holder is the highest-ranking U.S. judical official to visit China since U.S. President Barack Obama took office in 2009.A sound relationship between China and the United States is not only in the interests of the two nations' peoples but also conducive to peace, stability and prosperity in the Asia-Pacific region and the world at large, said Zhou, who is also secretary of the Political and Legal Affairs Committee with the CPC Central Committee."We hope the United States will honor its commitments and think of and handle bilateral relations from a long-term and strategic perspective. We also hope the U.S. will respect China's sovereignty and dignity and not do anything that hurts the overall China-U.S. relationship," said the Chinese official.Zhou said China is serious about cooperation with the U.S. and hopes to make joint efforts to hunt down fugitive suspects, and fight terrorism, drug abuse and intellectual property rights violations.Holder said the United States attaches importance to U.S.-China relations and hopes to find common ground with China while putting aside differences.The U.S. Department of Justice hopes to be a good partner of its Chinese counterpart, he added.

KIEV, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- Ukraine's coal industry ministry and China's state development bank reached an agreement on cooperation in the coal industry Thursday."We have signed a document which provides an algorithm for further implementation of investment projects," Yuriy Yaschenko, the Ukrainian coal industry minister, told reporters after a meeting with Gao Jian, deputy head of the State Development Bank of China.The memorandum applies to three investment projects to be launched in the Lugansk and Donetsk regions in eastern Ukraine, Yaschenko said."Chinese experts have already arrived in Ukraine, they are now visiting the shafts. They will inspect the technical condition and consider how to implement these projects," Yaschenko said.Gao said China's State Development Bank is willing to expand cooperation with Ukraine not only in the coal industry but also in agriculture, infrastructure construction and other fields.Ukraine's coal industry and China's State Development Bank signed a framework agreement on financial cooperation on Sept. 2 during Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych's visit to China.Under the agreement, Ukraine's coal ministry presented to the Chinese side a package of seven investment projects with an estimated cost of more than one billion U.S. dollars.
