If you live with someone who has opposing views about the COVID-19 pandemic, it can make living situations awkward.Hunter Stanfield is an assistant professor of family science at Lipscomb University. When approaching someone about their views on COVID-19, and their habits, he said it’s best to remain calm and open-minded.“It is throwing everyone for a loop,” Stanfield said, “So instead of saying that you’re really getting worked up about this, that’s probably not the best initial approach. It may be ‘I can see that this is really upsetting to you, can you tell me a little bit more about that?'”He said trying to understand, before attempting to be understood, is a good starting place. “Am I willing to consider their perspective, or am I in this to prove them wrong? Which in the end gets us nowhere in all of this, so I think those basic things are really important and critical.”If you know why someone’s habits are a certain way, it’s possible to compromise.“I know some people say compromise is a dirty word, in this case, I think compromise really gets at the fact that I’m wanting to meet someone or be a part of someone’s life the best I can," Stanfield said.If the social awkwardness persists, a ton of people is going to therapy to sort it out right now.“I sometimes equate therapy to taking your car in to get an oil change. Hurricane Irma was a very scary experience for residents of Florida. A deputy with the Osceola County Sheriff's Office helped one of those scared residents calm their nerves, even for just a moment.As they wrote in their post: 239

(KGTV) - The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a residential burglary that happened in the overnight to early hours on Wednesday.The break-in happened at a house on Date Avenue.According to residents someone broke into their house and stole several items while they were asleep. Taryn Williamson, who lives in the home, said the thief must have gone into their room because she noticed her purse, her boyfriend’s phone, and a Nintendo Switch gaming system, were missing.  All were on a table in their bedroom.Her purse had 0 in cash as well as credit cards. Williamson says the money was to pay for rent, but they were able to raise it back in a few hours through GoFundMe.“I’m a really light sleeper," Williamson said, "I'm really shocked I didn't wake up, he (or she) must have been really quiet."Williamson said her roommate discovered the front door was open when she left for work around 5 a.m.  They are not sure how the thief got inside, but she says it's possible someone left the door unlocked before going to bed the night before.If you have any information, you’re asked to call the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office. 1223

IMPERIAL BEACH, Calif (KGTV) -- A San Diego Cal Fire Firefighter kicked off his "Ride into the Light" on the first day of the year, to honor his fallen colleague Cory Iverson. Iverson died in December 2017 while battling the Thomas Fire in Ventura County. The cross-country ride last 31 days. Pittman organized the ride to raise money for the Iverson Foundation for Active Awareness (IFAA). The foundation was started by Cory's wife, Ashley, to provide peer support and mental health programs for emergency fiirst responders.
