BRASILIA, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) -- The World Heritage Committee decided on Sunday to include China Danxia Landform in the World Heritage List at its 34th meeting being held in Brasilia, capital of Brazil."Danxia Landform of China" is the general name of a Serial Nomination for World Natural Heritage. This nomination consists of six geologically and geographically related Danxia Landform areas which collectively featuring the outstanding universal values of Danxia geomorphology in south-east China.The six Danxia landform areas are: Mountain Langshan and Mountain Wanfoshan (Hunan Province), Mountain Danxiashan ( Guangdong Province), Taining and Guanzhoushan (Fujian Province), Mountain Longhushan and Guifeng (Jiangxi Province), Mountain Chishui (Guizhou Province), Fangyan and Mountain Jianglangshan ( Zhejiang Province).Danxia landform, a unique type of petrographic geomorphology, could be defined as "landform consists of red bed characterized by steep cliffs." The total core area of above five regions is 73,945 hectare, and the total buffer area is 65,446 hectare.

CHANGSHA, July 4 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao has warned that China's macro economic control policy is facing mounting difficulties with the severity of the international financial crisis and the unpredictable nature of the global economic recovery."China's current economy remains good, but the domestic and international environment is extremely complicated," Wen said while addressing a symposium held Saturday in Changsha, capital of central China's Hunan Province.The symposium, which was presided over by Premier Wen, was thrown to feature economic situation in three provinces of Hubei, Hunan and Guangdong.At the symposium, Wen reiterated the government's stance in maintaining the continuity and stability of macro economic policies, and making these macro policies more flexible and targeted.Wen said the government would "work to promote stable and relatively fast domestic economic growth, restructure the economy and manage inflation expectations to ensure the government's goals for 2010 are met."The government would endeavor to resolve long-term structural problems while targeting urgent issues, Wen said.Before the symposium, Wen also inspected flood prevention and control efforts in parts of Hunan Thursday, and moved on to Changsha, the provincial capital, to visit a number of other venues including companies ranging from machinery, outsourcing to animation companies Friday.While inspecting the companies, Wen enquired about their business, employment and social security, and encouraged them to step up innovation."An internationally competitive enterprise needs products of the best quality, world-leading patent technologies and generations of excellent staff," Wen said when talking with employees in Sany Group, a Changsha-based leading Chinese engineering machinery manufacturer.Wen talked with employers and job hunters at a job market in Changsha. BEIJING, June 9 (Xinhua) -- Chinese police will begin a special four-month campaign to crack down on the production and use of counterfeit automobile license plates on Thursday.Police around the country will target trade in fake license plates, registration papers and other license plate-related crime, the Ministry of Public Security said Wednesday in a statement on its website.Violators sometimes forge license plates for military and government vehicles to enjoy privileges like free expressway charges.Some drivers use stickers to cover their license plates to cheat police.The campaign will begin June 10 and finish Oct. 10.Police carried out similar campaigns during the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and the National Day holidays in 2009 to create better traffic conditions.Statistics with the ministry show police nationwide seized about 267,000 counterfeit license plates in the 2008 campaign and 183,000 fake plates in the 2009 campaign.

BEIJING, July 12 (Xinhua) -- Housing prices in major Chinese cities rose 11.4 percent year on year in June, one percentage point lower than the increase in May, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said Monday.This was the second consecutive month that China's property prices grew at a slower pace. Property prices in the 70 large and medium-sized cities grew 12.4 percent in May, 0.4 percentage points lower than that of April.On a monthly basis, June property prices in these cities fell 0.1 percent compared to the month before, the NBS said.New home prices rose 14.1 percent year on year in June, down one percentage point from May. Prices of second-hand homes gained 7.7 percent last month, compared with an increase of 9.2 percent in May.The Chinese government started a campaign in April to rein in soaring house prices, including tightened scrutiny of developers' financing, limited loans for third-home purchases, and higher down-payment requirements for second-home purchases.
