SHANGHAI, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) -- The China Pavilion at the Shanghai World Expo welcomed the 8 millionth visitor Saturday as a senior pavilion official announced its exhibition would run for another six months, beginning Dec.1."The China Pavilion's exhibitions will be extended for half a year beginning Dec.1 to meet people's needs", said Qian Zhiguang, deputy director of the China Pavilion on Saturday.The China Pavilion, named "The Crown of the East", has become increasingly popular since the World Expo open on May 1, with an average of 50,000 visitors daily.However, space restrictions have resulted in many visitors being turned away during the Expo, which closes at the end of October.Further, the China Pavilion is negotiating with local museums which are displaying historical items, to continue showing these national treasures, including bronze chariots and horses from the Qin Emperor, ancient porcelain, and invaluable Chinese paintings from 800 years ago.The China Pavilion is one of the permanent structures that will remain after the World Expo.

CAIRO, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- Chinese and Egyptian industry officials vowed closer bilateral economic ties on Sunday with the signing of an industrial cooperation agreement.Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry Rachid Mohamed Rachid met with Chinese Minister of Industry and Information Technology Li Yizhong. Both talked about the expansion and improvement of bilateral trade and economic cooperation.Rachid told reporters that he hoped the new agreement would pave the way for more cooperation in different industry sectors including manufacturing of cars components, textiles, petrochemicals, electronics and technology."This agreement includes the process of sharing technology and increasing investment in the industrial sector and training of workers as well as helping Egyptian companies promote their products in the Chinese markets," said the Egyptian minister.The agreement also included the formation of an Egyptian- Chinese task force that takes the responsibility of sharing information and experiments in the industrial sectors and encouraging Egyptian and Chinese firms to establish joint ventures in different areas of cooperation, according to Rachid.Rachid said that Egypt wanted to benefit from the successful Chinese experience in the industrial sector.Egyptian Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif also met with the Chinese minister. The prime minister said Egypt shows great interest in boosting cooperation with China.The bilateral trade between Egypt and China increased from 3 billion U.S. dollars in 2006 to 6.24 billion dollars in 2008, according to Chinese Ambassador to Egypt Wu Chunhua.By the end of last year, Chinese investment in Egypt exceeded 500 million U.S. dollars. BEIJING, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- China here Thursday questioned the intentions of foreign governments who supported the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize going to Liu Xiaobo, saying those governments had no right to interfere in China's internal affairs."What is the true intention of those foreign political figures and governments who support the granting of the Nobel Peace Prize to Mr. Liu Xiaobo? Is it because they resent China's development path and hate China's political system?" Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Ma Zhaoxu questioned.Ma said at a regular news briefing that whether China had chosen the best way to more forward, both politically and socially, was best judged by the development reality in China, and the 1.3 billion Chinese people had the biggest say."China's affairs should be left to Chinese people themselves," Ma said, adding that the few biased individuals with the Norwegian Nobel Committee had no right to judge China, and western governments had no right to interfere in China's internal affairs."We never interfere in other's internal affairs, and will not allow others to interfere in ours, " said Ma.The Norwegian Nobel Committee awarded the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize to Liu Xiaobo on Oct. 8th in Oslo, Norway.
