AURORA, Colo. — An Aurora police officer has been suspended for one week following a well-publicized incident in which the white officer pulled a gun on an Indian American doctor who was trying to park at a refugee center the doctor operates.The Sentinel reports that Officer Justin Henderson with the Aurora Police Department was suspended for 40 hours without pay and ordered to attend de-escalation training for his March 1 confrontation with Dr. P.J. Parmar.Parmar, who is Indian American, says he's disappointed with the punishment and that he believes his race affected how Henderson treated him.His attorney has said he plans to file a federal lawsuit against the city.In a June interview, Parmar told Scripps station KMGH in Denver that he wants to see reforms made in the Aurora Police Department.He said on March 1 that he was moving Boy Scout gear from the Mango House — a shared space for refugees and asylees — to another property, when he noticed a police car parked in his ground-level garage, partially blocking the exit. Pamar said he honked his car.Pamar then claims the officer jumped out of the vehicle, swore at him and pulled out a gun as he ran toward the car.Pamar then started recording the interaction on his phone. It shows Pamar asking Henderson to leave his property."No, I'm going to figure out whose property this is first," Henderson said.At one point, Parmar said Henderson pointed a gun at his face."The gun pointed at me — it was scary, but it's not what hurt the most," Parmar said in June. Attorney General Pam Bondi said Tuesday that Home Depot is sending 45 tractor-trailers containing disaster-relief supplies to Florida communities impacted by Hurricane Irma and pledging even more supplies before the end of the week.Millions of Floridians are still without power and thousands more have been displaced by flooding or storm damage.Bondi said the Home Depot trucks are carrying cases of water, plywood, generators and electrical cords, among other items.The supplies, headed to South Florida, will be sold at normal prices.Bondi's office said the home building company is shipping additional supplies in the coming days with more than a million bottles of water expected by the end of the week.The state said Home Depot will sell the water for .97 a case.Florida’s Price Gouging Hotline remains open during this emergency declaration covering all 67 counties.  914

As the debate over arming teachers in schools reverberates across the country, Kansas is doubling down on the idea.A new bill would not only authorize the arming of Kansas school staff, it would hold schools responsible if a shooting were to occur and the teachers and staff present were not allowed to be armed.Here's the exact wording?from House Bill 2789:"In any action against a unified school district arising out of acts or omissions regarding the possession or use of firearms on the premises of such school district, there shall be a rebuttable presumption of negligence on the part of such school district when it is shown by evidence that such school district did not authorize any employee of such school district, other than school security officers, to carry concealed handguns..."The House bill is causing some serious contention in the Kansas state capitol. During a House Insurance Committee hearing on Tuesday, Rep. Blake Carpenter, one of the bill's authors, quoted the movie "American Sniper" and said violence in school was a matter of "when" and not "if.""It's not if our kids will be killed; it is when they will be killed and what we are doing to prevent it," he said,?according to the Kansas City Star.CNN has reached out to Carpenter for comment.The bill has received significant pushback.
