Two SWAT team members in Florida have reportedly been suspended for choosing to respond, without permission, to a shooting at a high school in Florida where 17 people tragically lost their lives.According to the Florida Sun-Sentinel, two Miramar, Florida, SWAT team members were on duty, in the area at the time of the shooting. The SWAT officers chose to respond to the school, despite not having been told to. According to the Miramar Police Department, their decision, "created an officer safety issue and left them unaccountable for their actions," the Sun-Sentinel reports. Detective Jeffrey Gilbert and Detective Carl Schlosser were notified of their suspension on February 22, the newspaper reports. They were instructed to turn in their SWAT-issued rifles immediately. The two reportedly remain on active duty for their other assignments.Union officials are defending the actions of the SWAT officers, saying that they were following their natural instincts to help those in need when they responded to the school. “While it may have been a violation of policy to not notify their supervisors that they were going there, their intentions were brave and heroic, I think,” Police Benevolent Association President Jeff Marano told the Sun-Sentinel.On Wednesday, a Florida grand jury has formally indicted Nikolas Cruz in the Parkland school shooting. Victims who endured mental, physical, and sexual abuse at the hands of wealthy Palm Beach hedge fund manager Jeffrey Epstein and his co-conspirators can now start filing compensation claims against his estate.Earlier this month, a U.S. Virgin Islands probate judge gave the go-ahead for the Epstein Victims' Compensation Program to begin accepting claims starting on Thursday, June 25.An estimated 0 million has been allocated to the fund."Jeffrey Epstein has failed, and his victims have won," said attorney Spencer Kuvin, who represents four of Epstein's accusers. "Hopefully this is the first page of the final chapter of the Epstein saga."Speaking at a news conference on Thursday, Kuvin said the fund is only open for less than a year, and money will be distributed to victims based upon their allegations that can be proven.Victims who have more evidence and more significant damages will receive more money, Kuvin said."It is imperative that anyone who believes they're a victim of Jeffrey Epstein come forward now. Your identities will remain confidential throughout the process," said Kuvin. "It is for all victims to apply. This includes women that have never come forward before. It includes women that have filed lawsuits. It includes women whose only evidence is their tragic memory of the events. He was my everything," said Karlene Moen, Johnson's fiancee.Johnson - a father of six and a grandfather - was riding his motorcycle to work at a Lakeside trucking company Friday when he crashed around 5:30 a.m. on southbound Highway 67 just past Willows Road. His first call was to his fiancee."He sounded hurt. He sounded scared, and he was pissed off," said Moen.He posted photos of his injured leg on Facebook. He told Moen a woman in a car cut him off, causing him to crash."He said, 'We locked eyes. She knows I was there ... She just left me and left me laying in the road,'" said Moen. Soon after the accident, he developed chest pains. He was rushed into surgery with a torn aorta. On Sunday morning, Johnson went into cardiac arrest. He was revived but suffered severe brain damage. He was placed on life support. Moen says the he will be taken off life support in the coming days, and his organs will be donated.His wedding planned for Saturday will now be a 'Celebration of Life' service."He'll never see me in my wedding dress that I bought especially for him," said a tearful Moen.She's hoping the driver that caused the crash will be identified.We just want justice.
