Republican Rep. Diane Black of Tennessee recently cited pornography as a contributing factor to gun violence in schools."How many of you when you were in school ever had an experience where a kid came to school with a gun?... Never happened. So we say, 'Why?' ... Why do we see kids being so violent? What's out there? What makes them do that?" Black said during a listening session with local pastors last week, according to audio HuffPost obtained and posted Tuesday.Black, who is also running for governor in her state, went on to list "deterioration of family," violent movies and pornography as what's led to school shootings."It's available on the shelf when you walk in the grocery store. Yeah, you have to reach up to get it, but there's pornography there," Black says in the audio. "All of this is available without parental guidance."She adds, "And I think that's a big part of the root cause, that we see so many young people that have mental illness get caught in these places."In the audio, Black does not detail what it is about pornography that she believes contributes to school shootings."I think the context is pretty clear," Black's campaign spokesman Chris Hartline told CNN Tuesday. "Diane believes the breakdown of families and communities plays a significant role in instances of school violence."Moms Demand Action founder Shannon Watts criticized Black's comments, writing on?Twitter?that "despite all of the data and experts at her disposal, (Black) chooses to blame 'grocery store pornography' for school shootings. Reports indicate that Toys R Us could be the next retailer to file for bankruptcy.The Wall Street Journal reports that the toy retailer could file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the next few weeks, just a few months out from the crucial holiday season.According to the Journal, the chain's suppliers are hesitant to ship new items before putting money down. The company is facing a debt of billion stemming from a leveraged buyout in 2005.Toys R Us has already received most of its holiday shipments, but could soon be prevented from receiving any additional toys before the shopping season begins.Toys R Us is just one of a number of retailers who have struggled as Americans have started doing more of their shopping online. President-elect Joe Biden says the day he is sworn in as president, he will ask all Americans to wear a mask for 100 days. "Just 100 days to mask, not forever. 100 days. And I think we'll see a significant reduction." Biden said during an interview with Jake Tapper on CNN.Biden said he wants to balance curbing the spread of the coronavirus without shutting down the economy. He said he talked with Dr. Anthony Fauci Thursday about his plans and asked the doctor to stay on in the new administration.Biden often wears a mask in public, and he and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris held "drive-in" campaign events to encourage social distancing. A scientific model released in October predicted 500,000 American deaths from coronavirus by March if there is no change to mask wearing and social distancing. The study found that if even 85 percent of Americans wore a mask routinely, almost 100,000 lives could be saved between now and March. However, those estimates may be out of date, as the coronavirus has spiked in the month of November, reaching to almost 14 million total positive cases and more than 275,000 deaths as of December 3, and shows no signs of slowing down in December, especially as health experts warn we have not seen a spike from Thanksgiving travel yet in coronavirus case numbers. The FDA is expected to grant emergency use authorization to Pfizer and Moderna's coronavirus vaccine in the next few weeks. However, masking and social distancing will still be needed since the vaccine will not be available to everyone right away. Biden told CNN he would be "happy to" get a coronavirus vaccine once Dr. Fauci and the FDA say it is safe. His comments come one day after three former presidents, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama, said they would publicly get the coronavirus vaccine to demonstrate its safety to others. 1863

Even among gun owners, the devices weren’t big sellers.A bump stock allowed the gunman in the Las Vegas shooting to make a semi-automatic rifle function more like a fully-automatic one by bumping the trigger so that it had a quicker fire.Following the shooting, there was rare bipartisan support to get rid of them. Despite the support, Congress never took action and many blamed the National Rifle Association.However, reports now indicate that the Trump administration will soon outline a federal rule that would officially ban the devices.“I would call it the bare minimum of steps, says Elizabeth Becker, a volunteer with the gun advocacy group Moms Demand Action in Las Vegas.“We do want to see bump stocks regulated, seeing as they create machine guns out of semi-automatic weapons, but there is a lot more to do on this issue.”Becker says she believes more substantive changes to gun laws are coming, thanks to the new Democrats recently elected to the House.But not all gun owners are on board with the proposal."If you're a law-abiding citizen in America and you have a clean record, you should be able to own anything you want," says Mel “Dragon Man” Bernstein, owner of Dragonman gun store in Colorado Springs.Reports indicate the new rule would force owners to turn in or destroy bump stocks within 90 days. 1466
