KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A Kansas City FBI agent who rushed to help survivors at the Pentagon on 9/11 died Thursday from brain cancer.Melissa S. Morrow, 48, died after a long battle with the disease. Morrow was certified by The World Trade Center Health Program and the 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund, and as a result of her actions on 9/11, her death is classified as a line of duty death.Morrow was working in the FBI’s Washington Field Office at the time of the attack.When the plane hit the Pentagon, Morrow, who was 31 at the time, responded to the crash site and spent the next 10 weeks there and at an evidence warehouse. During those 10 weeks, Morrow was exposed to hazardous contaminants.Les Kerry, Team Leader of the Missouri Law Enforcement Funeral Assistance Team, said that Special Agent Morrow’s death is a chilling reminder that the 9/11 tragedy continues to take lives. “Just an average citizen who didn’t know her, it’s going to bring back some memories of where you were that day of the tragedy and the travesty that took place on 911 and the days and months to follow,” said Kerry.  Morrow served in the Kansas City office from 2010 to 2018.She will be given a hero’s burial with bagpipes playing taps, a 21 gun salute, and a flyover. Morrow is survived by her mother, father and sister.Visitation is scheduled from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 27 at Country Club Christian Church, 6101 Ward Parkway, Kansas City, Missouri. KENOSHA, Wis. — A Kenosha County Court Commissioner ruled there is enough evidence for Kyle Rittenhouse to stand trial for homicide charges. A preliminary hearing was held this morning in Kenosha. Rittenhouse appeared virtually from his lawyers office in Racine.Rittenhouse and his mother were dropped off in front of Mark Richards’ office. Rittenhouse is free on a million bail. Rittenhouse didn’t say anything as he walked inside.His mother said, “ Get away from me.”During the hearing, Rittenhouse sat quietly with a mask. He lowered it so his lawyer could identify him to the court.“I will stipulate my client is seated in the blue shirt, he just pulled his mask down,” said Richards.The defense first asked for two of the charges in the case to be dismissed, reckless endangering safety and possession of a dangerous weapon by a minor. The defense argued the possession of a weapon charge, in part, was a violation of Rittenhouse’s 2nd amendment rights. The prosecution disagreed.“This is a situation where a teenager went running around the streets of Kenosha with a very dangerous weapon. And this is exactly why we have this law because a teenager, in this case, killed two people and shot a third because teenagers shouldn’t be allowed to run around with dangerous weapons because bad things happen,” said Thomas Binger, Kenosha County Assistant District Attorney.The court rejected the motion to dismiss the two charges. KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One of the men indicted for the death of 10-year-old boy on a water slide in 2016 is also facing a bankruptcy in Texas.Jeff Henry, the co-owner of Schlitterbahn water parks in Kansas City, Kansas and Corpus Christi, Texas is scheduled to appear in a Kansas City, Kansas, courtroom next week.The Corpus Christi location is part of an ongoing bankruptcy.According to court records, Jeff Henry and his brother Gary Henry were behind a company called Upper Padre Partners (UPP).Those same records show UPP had more than million in unexplained cost overruns for the Corpus Christi water park.That figure is more than double what it was expected to cost to build the complex, which also includes a nine-hole golf course.Companies the Henrys borrowed money from accuse them of mismanagement and misappropriation of funds.Right now, a court-appointed trustee runs Upper Padre Partners, and submits monthly financial reports to the court.The newest report, for February, was submitted last week.Court records show a company called Axys loaned UPP million in February 2015.By November 2016, three months after 10-year-old Caleb Schwab was killed while riding a slide in the Kansas City park, that million was in default.Axys foreclosed on a piece of property next to the Corpus Christi water park and is attempting to sell it to get some of its money back.An attorney for Axys said UPP still owes the company millions of dollars.Court records show UPP also owes International Bank of Commerce more than million.That bank has put claims known as liens on both the water park and the golf course. 1662

JAMUL, Calif. (KGTV) - A stretch of Highway 94 where a Border Patrol agent died is now dedicated in his name. Jarod Dittman was killed near the 8.5 mile marker on Otay Lakes Road in Jamul in March 2008. He was driving to his assigned patrol route when he rolled over. Dittman had been working with the Border Patrol for one year. On Monday, Dittman’s family and Border Patrol agents mounted two memorial signs. They also gathered at Eastlake Church for prayers and remembrance. “Thank you for never leaving my side,” said Dittman’s widow as she spoke to her late husband’s Border Patrol colleagues. Agent Dittman was 28 years old when he died. He is survived by his wife and daughter. 692
