Noblesville Schools announced today that Mark Booth will no longer serve as the district's director of special education, following Booth's recent sharing online of a "meme" offensive to special education.The district denounced the post and formally disciplined Booth prior to communicating that he will not return to the special education director role. Booth will shift from the leadership role to one focused on analytical compliance for the district.Booth has been Noblesville's special education director since 2004, championing several innovative and award-winning special education practices including placement of special education students in general education classrooms, strategies to better meet state academic standards, a successful work-study program and leadership in unified athletics.The district will begin the recruiting process for Booth's replacement immediately and a new director will be announced at a later date. The Paycheck Protection Program the church tapped was intended to help small businesses and nonprofits pay workers amid a cratering economy. The church maximized its take after lobbying for an exemption that gave all religious groups preferential treatment. NEW ORLEANS, La. – The oldest known U.S. veteran of World War II celebrated his 111th birthday over the weekend and he did it in style.Like it has for the past five years, The National WWII Museum hosted a birthday celebration for Lawrence Brooks on Saturday. This year though, they followed social distancing guidelines and the centenarian enjoyed the festivities from his home in New Orleans.From his porch, Brooks watched as military planes from the Aeroshell Aerobatic Team and The Big Easy Wing flew over just for him.The museum also had its vocal trio, The Victory Belles, perform a series of numbers for Brooks, including “Happy Birthday.”Lastly, Brooks was presented with a cake, a recorded message from the museum’s CEO, and nearly 10,000 birthday cards collected as a result of a national card drive.“It is such an honor to have the oldest living U.S. veteran of World War II living so close to our institution, and it was meaningful for us to continue to celebrate Lawrence Brooks and his incredible life in a safe manner this year,” said the museum’s assistant director of public engagement, Amber Mitchell, in a press release. “As we continue to lose members of The Greatest Generation, it is so important that we honor these men and women for their bravery and sacrifice while they are with us.”Brooks served in the predominantly African American 91st Engineer Battalion, which was stationed in New Guinea and then the Philippines during WWII, according to the museum. Nikolas Cruz, the 19-year-old who was arrested in connection to Wednesday's mass school shooting that left 17 dead, walked to a nearby McDonald's and Walmart after the massacre, Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel said. According to Israel, Cruz tried to blend in with students evacuating the school after he allegedly committed the shootings. He then walked to a Walmart and bought a beverage from the Subway restaurant inside the store. Investigators believe that he then walked to a McDonald's and spent 40 minutes inside before leaving. Cruz was then caught by local police walking alongside a road. Newly released police body cam shows Waffle House shooting suspect Travis Reinking in East Tennessee two months before the Antioch attack.It's video from a motel in Alcoa, where Reinking was staying in February while working on a construction project. Full Coverage: Antioch Waffle House ShootingOne clip showed one of his several run-ins with the law. One of those run-ins happened just two months ago.Reinking told the officer someone kept knocking on his window and yelling. However, it was a woman who called police on him for allegedly threatening her in a violent manner. "They'll be talking loud at night, knock on the windows and walk off, and I don't know who it is,” Reinking said in the clip. Samantha Veals said she was trying to put her kids to sleep when she heard Reinking yelling.She told him to be quiet, at which point he allegedly charged inside her motel room, balled up his fist and laughed at her when she screamed.  Reinking admitted to police that he yelled at Veals but denied charging at her. He checked out of the motel that night and Veals opted to not press charges. Reinking?was arrested Monday and charged with four counts of criminal homicide, four counts of attempted murder and one count of unlawful gun possession in the commission of a violent felony.  The Waffle House reopened Wednesday and for the next month, is donating 100 percent of its proceeds to the victims of the attack.  More:  1514
