(KGTV) - On Thanksgiving Day, one Bonita family hosted dozens of volunteers who assembled gift bags for children in need.The tradition started seven years ago when Diane Zoura and her family went to an orphanage in Tecate, Mexico, and helped with their Christmas Party. They brought gifts and loved the impact they had on the children.Every year since, they raise money and stuff gift bags for foster children in San Diego. In 2017, the County of San Diego reported 2,300 children in foster care. The average age was 8 years old and most of those kids suffered neglect or abuse from their birth-parents. This year their gifts are reaching farther, partnering with the non-profit Build A Miracle, to give presents to kids in need in Tijuana."It takes ,000 to build and furnish homes for families in need in Tijuana, Mexico," 13-year-old Gabriel said. He and his family raised money and sponsored homes in the past. Thursday he was stuffing bags to give to those in need."Just imagine without their home they're just living in this rain, getting wet and their clothes are soaked and they might not have anything else to change into," he said.Each bag has an assortment of items. Some on the list: bubbles, slime, puzzles, coloring books and crayons and a beanie."Especially orphans and those who don't have that much, who don't feel loved, so we're trying to plant seeds of hope and seeds of love into these children's lives," Zoura said. "If we just share love with other people how much better would the world be?"Zoura wants people to realize they don't have to be well off or dedicate a ton of time to volunteering to still make an impact, and that everyone can do their part to add a little magic this holiday season.This year the crew stuffed 750 bags, they hope with more help they can double it next year. 1838

Boston officials announced on Thursday that Yawkey Way, the street outside of Fenway Park honoring former Red Sox owner Tom Yawkey, will change names after claims that Yawkey was racist. Yawkey owned the Red Sox for nearly four decades, from 1933 to 1976. As desegregation was coming to an end in baseball in the late 1940s and 50s, Yawkey's Red Sox was the last MLB team to integrate. It was not until 1959, 12 years after Jackie Robinson made his for MLB at bat, that Pumpsie Green became the first black Red Sox player. Despite Yawkey's refusal to employ black players, he was a popular figure in Boston. In 1977, part of a street outside of Fenway Park became Yawkey Way. The street will be once again be called Jersey Street, the Boston Globe reported. "We recognize we have a long way to go, but remain committed to building a spirit of diversity, inclusivity, and openness within our front office and our ballpark," the Red Sox said in a statement. "We look forward to working with the business and civic leaders of Boston to continue to bring about social change in our community."While Boston's public works committee unanimously agreed to the name change, not everyone was in favor of dishonoring Yawkey. BUFFALO, N.Y. — Newly-released body camera footage shows a New York Supreme Court justice admitting to shoving a police officer, repeatedly stating that he has family ties to the Buffalo police force and even invoking a friendship with Mayor Byron W. Brown as he sought lenient treatment for himself and his wife during an incident in June.The footage was released after Scripps station WKBW in Buffalo reported in June that State Supreme Court Justice Mark J. Grisanti was under police investigation over a street brawl between the justice, his wife and their North Buffalo neighbors. Grisanti and his wife were both handcuffed and placed in the back of police cars, but officials announced in July that they would not be facing charges.In the body camera footage, Grisanti repeatedly states that his daughter and son-in-law are police officers, as does his wife, Maria Grisanti.“Ma'am, if you don't stop yelling, this is gonna be a problem for you,” a Buffalo police officer told Grisanti's wife, Maria, as she was yelling at her neighbors across the street.“I don’t care,” Maria Grisanti yelled back.The officer then crossed the street and attempted to put Maria Grisanti in handcuffs. That's when her husband began shouting at the officer.
