SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego police are searching for a woman they have identified as a person of interest in a recent homicide case in the Talmadge area.Police believe 25-year-old Sheila Camarena may be linked to a deadly shooting that occurred on Sept. 18, in the 4400 block of Euclid Avenue.According to police, in the early morning hours of Sept. 18, officers responded to a reported shooting in which a 33-year-old Black man was injured.The victim was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He was identified by police as Mychael Farve.A witness said the suspected shooter may have fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle, but police did not verify the witness’ statement.Camarena is Hispanic, 5 feet 5 inches tall, and weighs 170 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes, but police noted Camarena is known to dye her hair blonde and/or red.According to police, Camarena is considered armed and dangerous.Anyone with information on her whereabouts or the Sept. 18 case is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to ,000 for information that leads to an arrest in the case. 1153

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria was officially sworn in Thursday, marking a historic moment for America's eighth largest city. "Today, I stand in front of you as the first person of person of color and LGTBQ person to ascend to our city's highest office," Gloria said in a virtual ceremony. Gloria and five new council members were sworn in during a virtual ceremony Thursday due to the COVID 19 outbreak. Gloria is a Democrat, as are the five new councilmembers also sworn in. The Democrats now have an 8 to 1 advantage on the City Council. But even if there is political harmony, the challenges facing the city are grand.They are taking over with the region in a mandatory stay at home order due to the virus. Small businesses are shuttering, unemployment is near 8 percent, and the city could face a 4 million dollar budget shortfall next fiscal year."There are some things that people say you shouldn't touch, such as police, fire that type of thing, but if this continues on for another year, this COVID, who knows what the city budget is going to look like," said political analyst John Dadian.But in a brief speech, Gloria expressed confidence in getting San Diego back on its feet."We will be rolling out an aggressive strategy to address the worsening public health crisis in COVID-19, the economic crisis that is impacting San Diego's families, small businesses and our city budget, the housing and homelessness crisis that has become even more dire," Gloria said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Residents in San Ysidro and Tijuana are fearful of what will come next after hundreds of migrants rushed the border Sunday in a show of force.Commuters said they fear that they won’t be able to get across a bridge in San Ysidro to work or cross over to see family.In Mexico, residents say they’re fed up with the flood of migrants. “Deport them back to where they are, let them over here. They need to get out of Tijuana because it's just crazy for us,” said Candace Sanchez, a Tijuana resident.On the US side, those with family south of the border are concerned with what the future holds. “It worries me that the border might get closed. I mean it's like uh what's going on? We've never really seen this before,” said Victor Juarez.Employees who depend on their jobs in the US are also frightened. “Kinda scary because you know, I mean, every day we just know that we have to do what we have to do every day just to survive,” said Dana Aviles.Many people missed a day of work due to Sunday’s border closure, taking a toll with the holiday gift-giving season approaching. “I just hope they get out of here in Tijuana and let our lives be normal again, you know,” added Sanchez. 1206

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diegans now have even more problems they can report by the touch of a button.The city is continuing to add categories to its "Get it Done" smartphone app, which launched in 2016. The app originally allowed San Diegans to report stormwater and street issues, but currently has nine categories, including code enforcement, graffiti, and even passport appointments.The city says it gets 10,000 reports per month on the app.RELATED: San Diego battles illegally painted red curbsIn August, the city added features that allow people to report cars parked longer than 72 hours, illegal dumping, and HAZMAT related issues. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Police are investigating what led to the death of a man while in police custody last week in Paradise Hills.Police said 39-year-old Guillermo Corrales was arrested on April 16 in the 6300 block of Clyde Ave. after reports of a relative becoming violent. Corrales had possibly used narcotics, according to police.Corrales was placed in handcuffs and medically evaluated by first responders.During the evaluation, Corrales went into cardiac arrest, according to police, and he was taken to a nearby hospital and placed on life support.He died from his injuries on Thursday.San Diego Police homicide detectives are investigating the incident as a possible custody death. 724
