(KGTV) – Two people were found dead and two others were taken to the hospital after a fire tore through a La Jolla home early Monday morning.San Diego Fire-Rescue Department officials said the fire was reported at around 3:45 a.m. at a home in the 2500 block of Caminito La Paz, near La Jolla Parkway.Responding firefighters worked to douse the two-alarm blaze but the flames completely destroyed the home’s second floor.A fire official at the scene told ABC 10News the roof was “gone” after the home essentially “closed in.” By 6 a.m., crews were able to enter the home’s first floor through a side entrance.As flames engulfed the house, a man and his daughter were able to escape. The man suffered unspecified burn-related injuries and was taken to the hospital. The injured man's daughter accompanied him to the hospital, but there is no word on if she sustained any injuries.Two people were unaccounted for after the fire erupted. A family member told ABC 10News the two missing people were an 80-year-old grandfather and the injured man's other daughter, who had autism and was non-verbal.At around 9 a.m., firefighters inside the home recovered two bodies presumed to be the two missing people.Neighbor Pat Nissan, who lives on the same street, was concerned after learning two people were missing.“There was screaming and yelling. I started hearing glass breaking,” Nissan told ABC 10News.Family members said the home was occupied by the man, grandfather, and the man’s two daughters.The cause of the fire is under investigation. 1561

(KGTV)- Wednesday morning, 59-year-old Leslie Furcron slowly made her way to reporters outside the La Mesa Police Department to speak for the first time since she was shot in the forehead by the police bean bag during a protest and then hospitalized.“I'm a law-abiding citizen and I never came here that night for this to be a part of my story,” she said.Attorney Dante Pride said she was one of the thousands of people in front of the La Mesa Police Department two Saturdays ago where she was peacefully protesting police violence. At the time she was hit, police say officers deemed the gathering an unlawful assembly so they began to use measures to disperse protesters, including tear gas and bean bag rounds. He added that she can't remember everything because of her injury. He did address the Facebook Live video she posted, which appeared to show her throwing a can.“The information that we have now is that she threw a can on the ground and in retaliation for that is when the La Mesa Police Department officers targeted and shot her in the face,” he told reporters.In a timeline released on Tuesday by city officials, a round was fired from about 40 yards away toward her after she was reportedly seen throwing an object at deputies.“There is nothing on camera or anywhere that will show that she made an officer of La Mesa Police Department either fear for their life or injured them,” he told reporters.“I'm a god-serving person. I'm a mother and a grandmother,” he stated.Pride said that his firm has now filed a Freedom of Information Act request with the City to get the names of the officers who were directly involved in the incident.On Wednesday, the La Mesa Police Department sent 10News the following statement:“Chief Walt Vasquez would like to issue the following statement regarding the Leslie Furcron incident: ‘I am sincerely thankful that Ms. Furcron has been released from the hospital and is able to now heal at home with her family. LEMON GROVE, Calif. (KGTV) -- A car being pursued by sheriff’s deputies crashed into the backyard swimming pool at a Lemon Grove home early Wednesday morning.San Diego County sheriff’s deputies were called to Mt. Vernon Street in response to a report of vehicles racing each other on the street.When deputies arrived, the cars fled, prompting deputies to pursue them.The pursuit was called off after deputies lost track of the vehicles. However, minutes later, a homeowner contacted authorities to report a car had landed in her swimming pool.The home is located directly below Mt. Vernon Street, and it is believed the car had gone over the side and tumbled into the pool.10News learned a man and woman escaped from the submerged car and fled the scene.No injuries were reported. 788

LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- A one-two punch of red tide and algae-filled lake water releases have had a devastating effect on sea life in Southwest Florida.The latest numbers from Lee County officials on Thursday reveal that well over 3 million pounds of fish have been removed from local coastlines.The county reports that contractors removing fish from Lee County beaches have amassed more than 1,400 tons of fish, and that crews in Sanibel have collected an additional 309 tons.Among the dead fish found include one dead Whale Shark on Sanibel, and numerous large goliath grouper and tarpon.Lee County has just received two new Sand Rake machines, purchased for ,000 each,  that are being immediately placed into service.Areas cleaned so far by Lee County and its contractor include 798
