NEW YORK (AP) — A new report underscores that kids can bring the new coronavirus home from day care and infect relatives. The study released Friday comes from researchers in Utah and at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. It focused on three outbreaks in Salt Lake City child care facilities between April and July. The study concluded 12 children caught the coronavirus at the facilities. They then spread it to at least 12 of the 46 parents or siblings that they came in contact at home. Scientists already know children can spread the virus. One infectious diseases researcher says the study “definitively indicates — in a way that previous studies have struggled to do — the potential for transmission to family members,” said William Hanage, a Harvard University infectious diseases researcher.The findings don’t mean that schools and child-care programs need to close, but it does confirm that the virus can spread within those places and then be brought home by kids. So, masks, disinfection and social distancing are needed. And people who work in such facilities have to be careful and get tested if they think they may be infected, experts said. 1175

And most of all, he really, really loves penguins.But Jacob has Stage 4 high-risk neuroblastoma, and doctors told his family in early October he probably only had a month to live.So they'll celebrate Christmas early this year, and Jacob wants people to celebrate with him by sending him cards, his mother, Michelle Simard told CNN."He got some cards from this Halloween, and he opened up and saw them and it was like getting a gift. He read it to us and had a big smile his face and his nose scrunched," Jacob's father, Roger Guay, told CNN in a phone interview. "He was excited to see what people had to say and it just brightened his day."Fighting a long battleJacob was diagnosed with high-risk neuroblastoma when he was 5. According to the American Cancer Society, only half of children diagnosed with the disease reach the five-year survival mark.After Jacob was admitted to the Barbara Bush Children's Hospital on October 11, doctors discovered that the neuroblastoma had spread to his head and was incurable, according to a GoFundMe page set up by his mother."People have called him an old soul and I believe it because he has taught us so much about life and about people," said Guay. "He's accomplished everything that he needed to do by 9 years old, and a lot of people don't accomplish that, ever."An early ChristmasArtinyan said the family decided to "fast-forward" Christmas to give Jacob one last celebration.And for him, that means a lot of snow, a decked-out tree, and of course, a real-life Santa Claus.But before his improvised Christmas celebration takes place in early November, Jacob asked for cards from anyone around the world who wanted to share his Christmas spirit.And only five days after he announced his wish, he has already received more than 100 cards from people all over the country -- and even beyond."We got over a hundred, and they're from all over the world. We have some from the Netherlands, from Australia, from Denmark," said Artinyan. "We've heard from all over the world at this point. NEW YORK CITY -- Diners at a restaurant in New York City are requesting bubbles. But not the kind of bubbles to float away on, or to drink.Cafe du Soleil has created bubble seating for its customers. The Alvantor bubbles are plastic and can zip open or closed on two sides. There is plenty of room for a table of four inside."People love it. It's very supple. It's very cozy," owner Alain Chevreax said.He started preparing for cold weather early."I ordered the first bubble in July to try out because I was already thinking about the fall weather," Chevreax said.The restaurant now has 16 bubble tables.Cafe du Soleil is one of thousands of New York City restaurants struggling to stay afloat due to the COVID-19 pandemic.Chevreaux said he hopes the bubbles keep diners warm and dry as the temperature drops. He estimated the bubbles will be useful until the temperature goes below 45 degrees."Now people are aware of the bubble and when they make a reservation they say, 'Can we have a bubble?' I say, 'Of course you can have a bubble,'" Chevreaux said.In addition to comfort, customers Alfred and Barbara MacAdam said they like that they're protected from other people's germs."It also helps the restaurant bring more people in because you are enclosed and therefore protected," Alfred MacAdam said.While Cafe du Soleil has a plan to supplement indoor dining, which begins in New York on Sept. 30 at 25% capacity, many city restaurants do not.Despite the start of the fall season on Tuesday, Andrew Rigie, of the New York City Hospitality Alliance, said the city still has not given restaurants guidance on heat lamps."We have really been pushing the city, saying these small business owners need an opportunity to plan,” Rigie said. “Are you going to allow propane, which they can't currently use?
