Like many boys his age, 12-year-old Caleb Anderson wants to be an astronaut when he grows up and has goals to be the first man to visit Mars. And having already been admitted to Georgia Tech, he could be on his way to the Red Planet sooner than you think.According to WXIA-TV and WSB-TV in Atlanta, Caleb's parents have known he was gifted since he was less than a year old. His mother, Claire Anderson, told WSB that he was beginning to mimic her words by the time he was three weeks old. Nine months later, WXIA reports that Caleb was able to use sign language to communicate over 250 words."I'm not really smart," Caleb told CBS News in October. "I just grasp information quickly. So, if I learn quicker, then I get ahead faster."WSB reports that Caleb is currently taking classes at both a local high school and at Chattahoochee Tech, a technical college in suburban Atlanta. In October, Caleb toured Georgia Tech and was later granted admission. He could begin attending classes at the revered Atlanta university as soon as next year.But Caleb has plans beyond college.“I think I am going to go to Mars, and do more school, I think, and try to get my master’s at Georgia Tech,” Caleb told WSB. “Then do an internship with Elon Musk, and then I’ll probably get my PhD at MIT. And then I think I’ll start working at either NASA. Or SpaceX.”Shortly after admission into Georgia Tech, WXIA reports that a representative for The Steve & Marjorie Harvey Foundation — a charitable foundation started by comedian and TV host Steve Harvey — told Caleb that the actor would be paying for his three remaining semesters at Chattahoochee Tech.“He’s kind of always been this way, where you’ll ask these very deep, profound questions, and you don’t expect to see that from a three-year-old,” Caleb's father, Kobi Anderson, told WSB. “That’s kind of been our road, our journey.”“If you want to succeed, you have to do two things. Number one, you have to learn to fail,” Caleb told WSB. “That’s a really big part of winning, too.... And the second part is, you always try... LA SALLE, Colo. -- Under normal circumstances, most of us wouldn’t choose to get lost, but the growing number of corn mazes across America suggests that may not always be the case.Although corn mazes are a quintessential fall activity, the concept of a corn maze has only been around for several decades.Glen Fritzler is the owner of Fritzler Farm Park. He says he heard about the idea from his cousin in the late 90s. At the time, his crops were really struggling because of hail damage, so he decided it was time to go a different direction with his farm.“I was actually pretty desperate and so I called him up and said ‘hey what was that idea you had’ and he said ‘corn maze, man, you gotta do it,'” Fritzler said.So, he signed the contract and started designing mazes with The Maize company in the year 2000. The Maize was founded by Brett Herbst in 1996. The process is more complicated than people realize.“We have to have the corn maze design figured out by the first of June,” Fritzler said.Fritzler sends his ideas to Herbst who finalizes the concept to something that can work in a corn field.“You can only have so much detail in a certain design and a certain field size without compromising spacing between pathways,” Herbst said.The design is placed over a grid system that is translated onto a cornfield using flags and spray paint.“It takes 24 pages of regular grid paper to map out our corn mazes,” Fritzler said.In the span of one afternoon in early June, people who work for The Maize come out to mark the maze step by step with spray paint. Herbst compares it to connecting the dots on a cereal box.“They visualize us out there when the corn is 8-feet tall and we’re cutting it out with machetes or something. And that’s not how it’s done. We do it when it’s very early,” Fritzler said.Fritzler says each line on the paper represents a row of corn, and wherever there’s a trail, they have to remove the corn. Then they maintain and groom it for months, and make the path flat like a sidewalk.For the past two decades, the Fritzler Farm corn maze has seen many different patterns. Frtizler says they try to pick something fitting for that year in history. In 2020, it’s quite obvious what the design was inspired by.“So, we did a corn maze thanking not just the doctors and nurses, but everybody that sacrificed. The grocery store people, the people at the gas stations… everyone that had to go to work and interact with the public made sacrifices. And then the people that were laid off, they made sacrifices also.”Whether in a corn maze, or in real life, we can get through the twists and turns that come our way together.“I’m just so thankful for the corn maze and the opportunity to get to entertain people like we do,” Fritzler said. 2764

(KGTV) - A woman who says she was drugged and raped by Daniel Dorado while on a job interview at his La Jolla Restaurant nearly three years ago, is sharing her story only with 10News.Dorado was arrested Wednesday on 18 counts, including rape. RELATED: La Jolla restaurant owner arrested on 18 charges, including rapeThe woman, who requested her identity be protected, said the alleged assault happened at Voce Del Mare on the night of April 27, 2015."I went in there for a job interview, I would never have imagined going through a sexual assault and not knowing how it happened," the accuser said. She tells 10News it began when she answered an ad on Craigslist for a hostess position. She recalls arriving around 9:30 p.m. for an interview with Dorado, who at one point offered her a glass of wine, which she accepted. What happened next is unclear."What I do recall is waking up around four in the morning and I did not have any clothes on...he had nothing on," she said.The people who had been at the restaurant when she arrived were gone, and she said she was locked in, alone with Dorado. It was then that she remembers the phone ringing. On the other end was her mother, wondering where she was. "Honestly I feel because my mother called the restaurant around four something in the morning is what made him let me leave, knowing that somebody knew I was there," she said. The accuser said she knew she'd been assaulted because of how her body felt. "I had vaginal discomfort," she said. "I felt as if there must have been penetration at some point, bruises around my chest, I was in great pain."Although she filed a police report, she was ultimately told there was not enough evidence to charge Dorado, until now. "Knowing that I'm not the only one, I want justice and I hope that if there's anybody out there who knows this individual, who was a victim, that they come forward so there can be justice," she said.  2006

(KGTV) - A man went on a towering mission up a pole, a day after vandals left their mark at an American Legion post in La Mesa, including the burning of a flag.Just before 8 p.m. Saturday, a burning American flag was recorded being hoisted up a pole at American Legion Post 282. Before the night would end, vandals would also tag walls and shatter windows there. But it was the image of the burning flag that sent Cory into action after he saw the video Sunday morning."Really got me sad and upset at the same time," said Cory.A short time later, Cory was spotted on a flag pole outside the American Legion post, after a drive from his home in Lakeside. The CrossFit enthusiast making that 60-foot climb, quickly."My wife said, 'It was the look in my eye. Something I had to do,'" said Cory.After shooting to the top, Cory would thread a new rope he brought along, before going back down and hanging the new flag, an extra one he had been storing in his home. Cory isn't in the military but has family and friends who have served."Everyone has a right to protest, but I think it went too far when they disrespected the flag," said Cory.A short time later, Post Commander Jack Porath heard about Cory's lofty feat."I could not have been more proud of someone doing that," said Porath.For Porath, his emotional compass did a complete 180. After a night of heartbreak caused by the vandalism, he discovered some newfound optimism. In the middle of our interview with Cory, Porath phoned in. They spoke for the first time."What you did was wonderful and courageous. My hat is off to you," said Porath."Just me doing my part. We appreciate what you and other veterans have done. Just a small thing we can do to show that," answered Cory. Las Vegas police said Monday the MS-13 gang has been responsible for 10 murders in the past year in Southern Nevada. Police said five suspects, including one juvenile, have been arrested in the murders after the last one occurred on March 2. The first one occurred in March of last year. The murders were linked through forensic evidence. The victims died of shooting and stabbing injuries. Six of the 10 victims were kidnapped before police said they were murdered on the outskirts of town. Sheriff Joe Lombardo called the suspects "extremely violent."The discovery of two bodies at Frenchman Mountain within a short period of time helped tip police off after the body was determined to be a MS-13 gang member. The victims have been identified as Daniel Clark, Richard Gaudio, Carlos Pachaca-Rodriguez, Arquimidez Sandoval-Martinez, Juan Carlos Estrada Raya, Jose Hernandez, Ricardo Olivas, Izzak Towery, Earl Ryan and Rony Fuentes.In addition to the ones near Frenchman Mountain, three of the murders occurred near Mount Charleston, while others occurred near Arville Street and Oakey Boulevard, Bonanza and Sandhill roads, Charleston and Nellis boulevards and Charleston Boulevard and Palm Street. 1248
