SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — After getting approved by voters, San Diego State is moving forward with its SDSU Mission Valley Plan. As they are still working out the finishing touches, community members are offering their suggestions to organizers. SDSU Mission Valley still calls for a stadium, housing for students and the public, retail space, offices and a river park. Local land use and design professionals met in Balboa Park this morning to offer their ideas on how to enhance and improve the existing plans."They want to make sure that this very large development... isn't like an island in the middle of Mission Valley," says Cary Lowe, with C3 San Diego. Community members want to ensure the project "connects fluidly with the surrounding community."There are other concerns, as well. Once construction begins, crews may have to remediate a gas plume that once sat under the site."A number of people have raised the issue of the subsurface contamination of the site," says Lowe. This has "been a long time issue because of a leak from fuel tanks in Murphy Canyon."Lowe says there is an elaborate plan for the possible contamination removal. But as negotiations continue, it is unclear if the city or university will be paying for it. Land use and design professionals estimate the project to begin towards the beginning of next year. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A woman who was hit by a car in Normal Heights says she’s been left stranded for six months after her wheelchair was damaged in the crash. Now, replacing it is a challenge. Pet photographer Tamandra Michaels’ love for the camera came to a pause after she was hit from behind while crossing the street.“It sent me flying," Michaels said. The wreck damaged her custom wheelchair, which cost more than ,000.“It slightly bent the frame to where one of the front wheels don’t quite hit the ground.” Michaels says Geico, the insurance company of the woman who hit her, won’t replace the wheelchair after giving them proof the chair must be replaced.“Months went by, they said they did some research and that the chair should only cost between ,500 to ,100," said Michaels. Michaels says without being able to work, she can’t afford to pay the difference.“It's incredibly frustrating. They’re treating it like its a car or maybe even a bike. This is like my legs; this is my life. I don’t understand why they don’t get that."Michaels says she is now seeking help from an attorney. 10News reached out to Geico’s claim department, but they said they could not release any details about the claim.  1251

As they save for a down payment, they've been outbid time after time. "I've almost deleted all the real estate apps. It's frustrating. It feels like we're done," said Delgado.Or maybe not. Enter Freddie Mac and a just-announced boost for home buyers. The expanded Home Possible mortgage program allows buyers to roll up their sleeves and turn their sweat equity into their down payment. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A three-year-old girl being evaluated for coronavirus at Rady Children's Hospital has tested negative for the virus.Frank Wicinski confirmed to 10News that his daughter Annabel has tested negative for the novel coronavirus. CDC confirmed the results.Wicinski says he and his daughter will now be returned to MCAS Miramar to finish out their 14-day quarantine. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Activists with 'March Without Borders' are ready to welcome migrants from Central America heading to the United States with the migrant caravan.The supporters began an eight-day march from Los Angeles on April 22 and plan to meet the migrants at the San Ysidro Port of Entry on Sunday.On Saturday they marched throughout San Diego, beginning from Centro Cultural de la Raza in Balboa Park and ending in Chicano Park. Migrants are expected to ask for asylum at the San Ysidro Port of Entry sometime Sunday morning. 546
