LA JOLLA, California — A long-time animal rights activist who has filmed seals and sea lions harassed in La Jolla says people are not getting the message.Andrea Hahn has filmed the animals every day since 1994. Footage from Sunday she says showed some of the worst behavior she has witnessed in recent months: a woman with a shovel disrupting pregnant mothers on the beach.Another video shows a grieving sea lion mother with her stillborn pup. It has generated over 100 million hits according to Hahn. She says the pregnant mothers are delivering more stillborn pups because people are not giving them proper space. She has even witnessed tourists stepping on the pups.  "People are not getting it. Tourists think because they paid money to get here they have the right to grapple with the animals. There are perfectly good laws on the books and people are ignoring them and the government is not enforcing the laws," said Hahn.A "no-selfie" sign was recently posted at South Casa Beach. It was posted to remind visitors that sea lions and the seals are protected by federal law, monitored by park rangers, and it's illegal to disturb them.  Access to the Children's Pool is closed due to pupping season but is set to reopen in May. "Right now that area is safe and quiet for them. It should be closed for good," Hahn said. 1391

LAS VEGAS — Las Vegas police arrested a man Saturday after he climbed on a wing of a large passenger airplane at the city's international airport.Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said it responded to a call of a man on the tarmac at McCarran Airport at about 1:32 p.m. local time on Saturday.When they arrived, police say they found a man on the wing of an Alaska Airlines flight headed to Portland. But who’s really benefiting from these big investments?It’s a similar story for Georgia’s baseball stadium."It's about a 2 million facility, SunTrust Park,” says Derek Schiller, president and CEO of the Atlanta Braves.Out of that 2 million, Schiller says roughly 0 million came straight from taxpayers in Cobb County, Georgia. It came after a measure approved by a five-person commission."They were elected by the community to represent them,” Schiller says.The total .1 billion project inside and outside the stadium was all part of a public-private package deal, and taxpayers like Georgia resident Anthony Sierra seem to be enjoying it."For everything I’ve seen lately, it's been a nice, little spot,” Sierra says.Sierra and his friend Brittany Reynolds say, overall, they're happy. However, they do question if their tax dollars could've been better spent.“I wasn't aware of the amount of money that went into it, Reynolds says."There's so much other things your money could go towards, like education."While this may seem like a game with public funds, Schiller says the long-term goal is to make it a home run for all, saying the stadium provides “great economic vitality” to the community."And within a few short years, the taxpayer will actually make money off of this entire arrangement,” Schiller says.He says the future revenue will eventually be funneled back into local needs, like education.“ million of that goes to the Cobb County school system,” Schiller says.Whether you think this is a win or loss for taxpayers, both sides agree on one thing."I think it’s an eyeopener for folks to make sure they're being politically savvy,” Sierra says.In order to have a say on this stadium or any other, it's all about stepping up to the plate to vote.“I really do think it's important for fans and constituents to know what we are doing with their funds and how their dollars are put to use,” Schiller says. 2171

(KGTV) - The J Company is telling the story of America's founding fathers, with a twist.This spring, they're staging the classic musical 1776 with an all-female cast."We need to support our young women and let them know they can be anything and anybody they want to be if they just put their minds to it," says director Joey Landwehr, who came up with the idea of casting only young women in roles portraying men.The musical tells the story of John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin and the rest of the Continental Congress as they debated the merits of breaking free from England during the Revolutionary War. Some of the actors say they see the relevance to today's political climate in the story."Even though I know I'm pretty set on my political views, I do understand that other people have their own and that we need to find that middle ground," says Camille Le Saux, who will play Ben Franklin in the show. "That's what this play tends to focus on, and I think that's very relevant today."Others say it's empowering to see young women playing strong, influential men."It's showing that women can be powerful and women can be strong, and women can be angry and upset and passionate," says Caroline Egler. She's playing John Adams, a role she's wanted to tackle since she first learned of the show in 8th grade."Reading through the script again, I realized how beautiful it is and how human it is," Egler says.Rehearsals began this week at the Lawrence Family JCC in La Jolla. LAGUNA HILLS, Calif. (KGTV) - A Camp Pendleton Marine is suspected of shooting and killing his estranged wife at a home in Laguna Hills, Orange County Sheriff's Detectives said Friday.Jerel Boykins, 26, was detained by Marine Corps NCIS on base Thursday afternoon, just hours after deputies found his wife's body.Deputies were conducting a welfare check at the home on Via Lomas in Laguna Hills when they discovered the 23-year-old woman with multiple gunshot wounds.Boykins is being held at the Orange County Jail in lieu of million bail.Anyone with information should call Orange County Crimestoppers at 855-TIP-OCCS.  646
