LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Actor Danny Masterson -- who is charged with raping three women at his Hollywood Hills home between 2001 and 2003 -- made his first appearance Friday in a downtown Los Angeles courtroom but did not enter a plea. The 44-year-old actor known for appearing on "That '70s Show" and "The Ranch" was ordered to return to court Oct. 19 for arraignment.Masterson was charged June 16 with three counts of forcible rape. He could face up to 45 years to life in state prison if convicted as charged. The actor was arrested June 17 by the Los Angeles Police Department's Robbery-Homicide Division and released about three hours later on a .3 million bond.Shortly after the charges were announced, Masterson's attorney, Tom Mesereau, released a statement saying his client "is innocent, and we're confident that he will be exonerated when all the evidence finally comes to light and witnesses have the opportunity to testify.""Obviously, Mr. Masterson and his wife are in complete shock considering that these nearly 20-year-old allegations are suddenly resulting in charges being filed, but they and their family are comforted knowing that ultimately the truth will come out," Mesereau said then. "The people who know Mr. Masterson know his character and know the allegations to be false."The criminal complaint alleges that Masterson raped a 23-year-old woman between January 2001 and December 2001.He is also charged with raping a 28-year-old woman in April 2003 and a 23-year-old woman he had invited to his home some time between October and December 2003, according to Deputy District Attorney Reinhold Mueller. The District Attorney's Office declined to file sexual assault charges against him in two other alleged incidents, citing insufficient evidence on one and the statute of limitations on the other. In December 2017, Netflix announced that Masterson had been fired from the Emmy-winning scripted comedy "The Ranch" amid sexual assault allegations. The actor said then that he was "very disappointed" and "it seems as if you are presumed guilty the moment you are accused." He also "denied the outrageous allegations" and said he looked forward to "clearing my name once and for all." 2210

LITTLETON, Colo. — Watch out! A Grinch is tip-toeing around outside windows of unsuspecting children, to bring delight and a moment of joy this holiday season. In a neighborhood full of Christmas cheer, the Grinch was ready to strike with fear. He didn’t exactly attempt to hide as the children sat inside.Dressed from head-to-toe as the Grinch, Ethan Hecker, 14, banged on the window of a home and was met with laughter and joy, but little did they know, he was there to steal their Christmas cheer.“My goal is to scare the kiddos, let them have some fun,” Hecker said.Allison Hecker, Ethan’s mom, came across a post online of a girl dressed up as the Grinch scaring kids and moving things around in the yard. Ethan says as soon as he saw it, he knew he wanted to do it himself and begged his mom for the costume.“Ethan loves the theatrics and kids and it was perfect,” she said.Hecker ordered the costume and it arrived on Monday. That same day, they posted on social media.“He is asking per visit--he will spend 5-7 minutes creeping around the outside of your home while your kids scream with excitement (or fear),” the Facebook post read.Hecker says they were flooded with requests for the Grinch to stop at homes and birthdays.“We’ve had 10 (bookings), so far and he has about 50-55 booked,” she said. The money Ethan raises will go into savings and help him buy a car. He’s only 14 years old but wants to be ready when it’s time to get his license.Sarah Quinn saw the post online and booked the Grinch to surprise her kids.“I thought it would be a really great way for us to support him and also do something fun for the kids this year when we are limited on doing a lot of our other normal holiday activities,” Quinn said.“2020 sucked for everybody and this is a good way for him to bring some joy in a safe way,” Hecker said.On a bitter night, the sound of pure and priceless laughter fills the air.“They’re super excited, my 5-year-old especially, he’s going to have a really hard time going to bed tonight,” Quinn said.Naughty or nice, you better watch out; the Grinch may drop by.“I’m hoping to do this for the next two years,” Ethan said.So far, Ethan has raised about 0 for his car after paying his mom back for the costume. This story originally reported by Adi Guajardo on TheDenverChannel.com. 2322
LOS ANGELES (AP) — A father and a daughter kidnapped a woman in a Las Vegas suburb and brought her to his Southern California house, holding her for at least a week, sexually assaulting her and then leaving her for dead in the desert, authorities said Friday.Stanley Alfred Lawton, 54, and Shaniya Nicole Poche-Lawton, 22, dumped the woman off a highway near Edwards Air Force Base north of Los Angeles, where she was found by military personnel early Wednesday, Los Angeles County sheriff's Capt. Eduardo Hernandez said at a news conference. The woman in her 40s was reportedly cold and exposed to the elements. She was taken to a hospital and has since been released, Hernandez said. The father and daughter knew the victim, but officials didn't provide a motive for the attack. They kidnapped her by gunpoint in North Las Vegas on Oct. 30 and took her to Lawton's home in Palmdale, California, Hernandez said. They kept her in a room, and at some point, sexually assaulted her, authorities said.Lawton was arrested Wednesday, and his daughter was taken into custody early the next morning. It was not clear if they had lawyers who could speak on their behalf. They each face charges of kidnapping to commit a robbery, attempted murder, kidnapping from outside the state, rape and three counts of first-degree ATM robbery, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney's office. Hernandez did not give details about the robbery.Lawton and Poche-Lawton were being held on .5 million and .5 million, respectively, the district attorney's office said. The father is scheduled to be arraigned Friday. The FBI is investigating the abduction with Los Angeles County and North Las Vegas police. The case may be moved to federal court because the victim had been taken across state lines, but only state charges have been filed so far.North Las Vegas police were gathering information and didn't immediately have comment. Air Force officials could not immediately be reached for comment. 1996
LOS ANGELES (AP) — California Sen. Dianne Feinstein has endorsed Joe Biden for president, lining up with a fellow centrist Democrat and onetime Senate colleague and snubbing her home-state counterpart, Sen. Kamala Harris. In a statement Tuesday, Feinstein says she has worked closely with the former vice president and Delaware senator and has "seen firsthand his legislative ability, his statesmanship and most importantly his moral fortitude."The endorsement was not unexpected — Feinstein earlier indicated she favored Biden and recently held a fundraiser for him at her San Francisco home. The announcement comes at a time when Harris has been fading in polls and is struggling to regain her earlier momentum in the 2020 contest.Feinstein says Biden "will continue the fight to restore the soul of the nation from the Oval Office." 842
