SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – A man involved in a reported domestic violence incident in City Heights early Wednesday morning made his way onto the roof of a building and refused to come down, prompting a standoff with San Diego police.According to SDPD officials, officers responded to a domestic violence-related call at around 2:30 a.m. at a home in the 4100 block of Wilson Avenue. Police say the incident involved a man and his girlfriend, and the man allegedly destroyed a phone line or cell phone.When officers arrived, they spotted the man in the incident and tried to get him to surrender, but he ran away.With police in pursuit, the man climbed onto the roof of a home on 35th Street. Officers surrounded the home, but when police placed a ladder for the man to come down, he grabbed the ladder and pulled it onto the roof with him.The man used the ladder to help him cross onto the roof of a two-story apartment building in the 4000 block of 35th Street.As police negotiators tried to get the man to come down, he reportedly threatened officers with makeshift weapons and threw objects at emergency responders.After nearly 19 hours, the man was taken into custody just before 9:30 p.m. Wednesday night. 1211

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A nurse who works for the Las Colinas Detention and Reentry Facility tested positive for coronavirus Wednesday, the San Diego County Sheriff's Department says. According to the department, the nurse has been isolated at home. No other information was provided about the individual's condition at this time. The department says it has identified inmates and staff who may have come into close contact with the nurse. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A man was rescued from the top of a section of the border wall in Otay Mesa Tuesday.Cal Fire firefighters were called to a section of barrier in Otay Mesa just before 6 a.m. Crews arrived to find one person stuck on top of the border wall structure.Crews used a 35-foot ladder to reach the man and assist him down. No injuries were reported.Tuesday's rescue comes more than a month after San Diego Fire-Rescue firefighters and Border Patrol agents helped rescue three people stuck on top of a portion of the border wall in Otay Mesa. 560

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A resident inside an Encanto home opened fire on an intruder Wednesday, San Diego Police said.The victim first vandalized a car in the 6800 block of Charlene Ave. in the Broadway Heights section of Encanto, according to police.Police believe the victim then used a rock to break into a home where people were inside. One person was armed and fired a shot at the intruder.The victim was taken to the hospital. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A mysterious monolith that appeared in a San Diego parking lot earlier this week is gone, the structure torn down by a group of people in an incident captured on social media Tuesday night. The monolith was in the Scripps Ranch Marketplace parking lot. Similar structures have been popping up all over the country and the world since mid-November. In videos posted to social media, a large group of people can be seen pushing over and then carrying away the shiny, sleek object late Tuesday evening.
