BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — A Florida woman was arrested after video showed her placing a dog in the trunk of a car this week. Sheriff Wayne Ivey with the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook video that the woman, later identified at 27-year-old Sara Perry of Cocoa, Florida, brought the family pet to a local animal shelter. Ivey said she asked them to either take the dog or euthanize it because she no longer wanted to keep it. Staff at the shelter explained to her that they were full and unable to accept the animal, and they do not euthanize unwanted dogs for the public. Ivey said that Perry became extremely angry and returned to her car, where video was recorded of her shoving the dog into the trunk and driving away.A witness recorded the video and the shelter photographed the vehicle’s license plate. 841

CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. – A 21-year-old Marine was killed in a tactical vehicle accident at a California training center Sunday morning. The United States Marine Corps announced Monday that Pfc. Christian Bautista of Cook County, Illinois died after the M-1151 Enhanced Armament Carrier he was in crashed around 7:15 a.m.Despite live-saving efforts from two other Marines and paramedics, the Marine Corps says Bautista was pronounced dead at the scene at the Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center (MWTC) in Bridgeport.Bautista was a motor vehicle operator serving as a vehicle turret gunner assigned to 1st Transportation Support Battalion (TSB), Combat Logistics Regiment 1, 1st Marine Logistics Group. 1st TSB is aboard MWTC conducting tactical logistics support training in a mountainous environment.Bautista enlisted in the Marine Corps in September 2018. He graduated from Motor Transportation School at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, and was assigned to 1st TSB at Camp Pendleton, California, in May 2019. California Rep. Eric Swalwell is expected to announce Monday that he's dropping out of the 2020 race for president, according to a source familiar with his plans.Swalwell is expected to make the announcement at a 4 p.m. ET news conference at his campaign headquarters in California, concluding a short-lived bid for the Democratic nomination that failed to gain any traction.A spokesperson for Swalwell's campaign declined to comment.Swalwell announced his long shot presidential bid in April, pledging to mount a campaign that focused on the need for generational change in the Democratic Party and his commitment to confronting gun violence in the United States.Swalwell, though, failed to gain traction in a crowded Democratic field and only qualified for the first set of Democratic debates because of the Democratic National Committee's 1% poll standard, not because of grassroots support.Swalwell recently canceled a two-day trip to New Hampshire on July 3 and 4, in the first signal that his campaign might be coming to an end.The high point of his campaign was likely his direct and blunt challenge to former Vice President Joe Biden, the race's frontrunner, during the late June debates, where the California Democrat noted that he was six years old when "a presidential candidate came to the California Democratic convention and said it's time to pass the torch to a new generation of Americans.""That candidate was then-Sen. Joe Biden," Swalwell added as the crowd gasped. "He was right when he said that 32 years ago. He is still right today."Biden shot back: "I'm holding onto that torch. I want to make it clear."But that was not enough to sustain Swalwell's campaign, which struggled to gain attention in the Democratic field despite the candidate's availability to media.Swalwell, throughout his campaign, urged Democrats to "go big and be bold." He proposed a gun buyback program to get certain weapons off America streets and said he would fund a study on gun violence.Standing outside the National Rifle Association headquarters in Virginia in June, Swalwell said, "We're not just here to stand up to the NRA ... we're here to beat the NRA."But Swalwell's campaign, at times, was often defined by awkward moments, like when he looked to deliver a clever line at the June Iowa Democratic Party's Hall of Fame celebration."I will be bold without the bull," the congressman said to a quiet audience. 2427
Authorities say a warrant has been issued for the arrest of NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown following accusations that he and his trainer attacked another man near Brown's Florida home. Hollywood police say Brown faces charges of burglary with battery, burglary of an unoccupied conveyance and criminal mischief. Officers say they responded Tuesday afternoon to a disturbance call, where the alleged victim said Brown and his trainer, Glen Holt, hit him. Holt was arrested a short time later and charged with one count of burglary with battery. Police say officers attempted to make contact with Brown but were unsuccessful. 636
