After four hours, the food item should be tossed.“You want to make sure you put them in an insulated lunch bag with at least two cold sources and those two cold sources could be a frozen water bottle or frozen juice packs or gel packs in there. So, you want to put those perishable items in there and make sure the child does not open the bag and keep opening and closing the bag before lunchtime,” said Brown.If you're sending them with something hot, use a thermos, and warm it up first.“The best way to prepare it is to pour boiling hot water into the thermos first, then discard the hot water and then put the hot soup or stew in there. Make sure it's at 165 degrees Fahrenheit,” Brown said.However, the leading cause of sickness is poor hand washing. As the wildfire raged nearby, Whitney Vaughan and her husband had just enough time to grab a laundry basket of dirty clothes and some pictures before fleeing their home in Paradise, California.Vaughan could hear screams and explosions nearby Thursday as she and her husband got in their car and drove away. But they soon found themselves trapped with other evacuees in standstill traffic.The Camp Fire was closing in."The flames were whipping and spreading so fast," Vaughan told CNN. AURORA, Colo. — When a fawn found itself in the basement foundation of a home under construction, it was firefighters to the rescue. On Sunday evening, residents in a southeast Aurora, Colorado neighborhood called on three of their neighbors, who happened to be off-duty members of South Metro Fire Rescue and the Thornton Fire Department, to rescue the young deer. When it was first lifted out of the basement foundation, it ran to the edge of the property and tried to squeeze through metal fencing, but couldn't fit. The firefighters gave the animal another boost over the fence and it bounded away, said a spokesperson with SMFR.  692

ASPEN, Colo. — Rachel Zoe says her 9-year-old son, Sky, survived a 40-foot drop from a ski lift in Colorado on Sunday.The fashion designer and former reality TV star opened up about the scary incident on her Instagram story on Monday.Zoe said “ski patrol heroes” saved her son by quickly putting a mat under where they thought the boy would fall. She explained that she thinks the incident could have "easily" been prevented if a ski operator had stopped the lift when they saw Sky wasn’t on from the beginning.A representative for the Aspen Skiing Company said in a statement that it received a report of the child hanging from the lift at its Buttermilk ski area at about 2:48 p.m. When crews responded to lift, the representative says the boy was being held by an instructor and his father, who were on the chair with the child.“The boy was released and dropped to the pads below, where ski patrol was on scene,” said Jeff Hanle, VP of Communications at Aspen Skiing Company. “He was treated by patrol, brought to the base area and transported to the hospital by ambulance for examination.”Although the boy is “sore and banged up a bit,” Zoe says her son is in “great spirits” and is a “brave champion.”Zoe also posted a video of Sky explaining how he’s feeling and walking around for the camera.“Hi everyone.
