PASADENA, Calif. (AP) — Police in California have launched an investigation after authorities received calls of six people showing signs of drug overdoses during a six-hour period in the same city. The Pasadena Star-News reported Pasadena officials say two patients died, three recovered and one remained in a hospital receiving treatment. Authorities could not say conclusively whether the two men who died succumbed to drug overdoses until they receive a coroner’s autopsy findings. Police are investigating a car crash that killed a zebra in Chandler, Arizona on Wednesday morning.Several area residents posted in a neighborhood Facebook group about the crash around 6 a.m. local time, including rumors that the animal may have escaped from the Ostrich Festival grounds nearby. Chandler Police confirmed that a vehicle struck a zebra. They say the zebra, who was from the Ostrich Festival, was killed in the crash. The driver suffered minor injuries. Scripps station KNXV in Phoenix on the scene caught crews towing away a white SUV with front-end damage. A zebra was also spotted in a pen with ostriches on a property off the road, but it appeared to be uninjured.  712

(KGTV) - Eight border wall prototypes erected along the U.S.-Mexico border crossing in South San Diego County will soon be dismantled, a Border Patrol source confirmed to 10News Friday. The area is being cleared to make way for the secondary border fence, the official said.The Department of Homeland Security hired companies to build the prototypes, which were finished in October 2017. The designs were constructed to the Border Patrol’s requirements and stood 30 feet high, most made of thick concrete. “We’ll look at things like aesthetics, how penetrable they area, how resistant they are to tampering, and then scaling or anti-climb features,” CBP Deputy Commissioner Ronald Vitiello said in 2017. (KGTV) — A Border Patrol agent and one man were taken to a nearby hospital after suffering heat-related illness on Otay Mountain.At about 1 p.m., Border patrol agents started a rescue involving four individuals, including one Border Patrol agent and three suspected migrants, according to U.S. Border Patrol.When agents arrived, an agent as located and taken to the hospital. One man was also found and sent to the hospital.Border agents were still searching for the two other people in the Otay Mountain Wilderness area, according to Border Patrol. 579
