President Donald Trump issued a stark warning to North Korea during his address Wednesday to South Korea's National Assembly, warning that provocative action would amount to a "fatal miscalculation" under his administration. He cast himself as more willing than previous US presidents to use military force against Pyongyang should they continue threatening the United States and its allies."This a very different administration than the United States has had in the past," Trump said. "Do not underestimate us. And do not try us."Trump delivered a stern and personal message to North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un, warning that continued nuclear provocations would result in his regime's destruction."The weapons you are acquiring are not making you safer, they are putting your regime in grave danger," Trump said in what he called a "direct" message to Kim."Every step you take down this dark path increases the peril you face," Trump said. "North Korea is not the paradise your grandfather envisioned. It is a hell that no person deserves."Trump called for a "complete and verifiable denuclearization" of the Korean peninsula."All responsible nations must join forces to isolate the brutal regime of North Korea to deny it any form of support, supply, or acceptance," he said.Trump also drew a stark contrast Wednesday between South Korea and North Korea, saying that South Korea's economic growth is proof that the North Korean experiment has failed."When the Korean War began in 1950, the two Koreas were approximately equal in GDP per capita, but by the 1990s South Korea's wealth had surpassed North Korea by more than 10 times. And today the South's economy is over 40 times larger," Trump said. "You're doing something right.""North Korea is a country ruled by a cult. At the center of this military cult is a deranged belief in the ruler's destiny to rule as a parent protector over a conquered Korean Peninsula," Trump said. "The more successful South Korea becomes the more successfully you discredit the dark fantasy at the heart of the south Korean regime."Trump also contrasted the atrocious human rights conditions in North Korea with the freedoms South Korean citizens enjoy. 2209

It’s a victory for religious freedom sparked by a Philadelphia teen who loves the game of basketball.Mastery Charter sophomore Nasihah Thompson-King has been playing basketball since seventh-grade. She loves the game but was shocked that she was asked to remove her traditional Muslim hijab headgear during a playoff game back in February.“It was our second playoff game against Palumbo and when it was time for me to get in the game a referee told me I couldn’t play with my hijab on. I had to take it off if I wanted to play, so I decided just not to play,” said Thompson-King.At the time, the referee was enforcing a Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association rule requiring athletes to get prior approval for any head garment for religious or medical reasons. But Thompson-King had never had a problem wearing her hijab before.“I just didn’t wanna take it off because of my religion,” she said. The incident sparked outrage over the constitutionality of the policy and calls for PIAA rule changes. That’s when Pennsylvania state Sen. Shariff Street got involved.“We’re asking you to change your rule books to accommodate First Amendment rights to freedom of religion and freedom of expression,” Street said. This week, the PIAA did change its policy, now stating that religious headwear is permitted without prior approval.“I was excited when I was told the news and I was happy for myself and anybody else who wears a hijab when they play basketball so they won’t have any questioning about the hijab,” said Thompson-King.“I’m absolutely proud of my Nasihah, that’s my only daughter and I’m so proud of her, of what she’s done and playing basketball and also taking a stand,” said Nasihah’s mother, Fatima Thompson.“I have two more years of basketball to play and I’m looking forward to seeing more females and males wearing their religious head covering,” said Nasihah. 1894

(AP) -- The competitive scramble by states to buy personal protective equipment this spring stuck some businesses with big bills. An Associated Press analysis of state purchasing data during the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic found that states canceled billions of dollars in PPE orders. Many of the cancellations occurred when businesses couldn't get the products to states under tight deadlines or when prices rose. In some cases, suppliers already had paid to manufacture the goods before the deals got canceled. The most commonly canceled order was for N95 masks, which were particularly hard to get. 619
