ABBEVILLE, La. (AP) — Hurricane Delta sped up one Louisiana couple's wedding by a few days but judging by the smiles on the bride and groom it certainly didn't dampen the affair. Ian and Taylor Gaspard from Abbeville were supposed to get married on Saturday, Oct. 10. But Hurricane Delta had other plans. After watching the hurricane slowly make its way toward Louisiana they swiftly changed gears and held the wedding Thursday with friends and family in attendance. The streets outside were largely deserted as residents finished up last-minute storm preparations or evacuated. The smiling bride said the ceremony was "beautiful."Hurricane Delta made landfall Friday at 6 p.m. CT near Creole, Louisiana, as a category 2 hurricane. 739

Absolutely devastated about #SB1120. Our housing crisis requires us to act, and tonight we failed to do that. But I promise you this: I will *always* show up for housing — no matter what. pic.twitter.com/I4n6X07CNp— Buffy Wicks (@BuffyWicks) September 1, 2020 266

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez just went from bartender to Congress woman. But the youngest member of the House of Representatives says she's having a hard time finding affordable housing on a working-class salary. Members of Congress have to live in their home state and Washington, D.C., where homes are small and expensive. Rent ranges from ,500 to ,800 a month. For New York's Ocasio-Cortez, that means paying rent in two of the most expensive cities in the country.“To live in two major cities at 29 years old, it's not easy for anybody to do until she gets that income that she's waiting for once her job starts,” Steve Gaich, a relator in D.C., says. After winning her election, Ocasio-Cortez told the New York Times, "I have three months without a salary before I’m a member of Congress. So, how do I get an apartment? Those little things are very real."Other members of Congress have admitted to sleeping on cots and couches in their congressional offices, while some share apartments and homes.“I think the sticker shock does take people back sometimes, and they don't realize I’m paying 0 a month for a full house in Kansas or in Iowa, and 0 might get you a shared room in a house in D.C.,” Gaich says.Members of the House make 4,000, and Ocasio-Cortez admits she'll be fine once she starts receiving a paycheck. But is it enough for the average American to afford to serve in Congress?  “I don't think you have to be rich to run for Congress. I think she has shown that's an example of someone that's not that wealthy and doesn't have a lot of support coming financially, so I think she's definitely paved the way for a lot of other normal average working, modest income people to be able to run for Congress,” Gaich says. 1757

She maneuvered around cars on the highway even hit stop spikes near Oostburg. Deputies said her tires blew but she just kept driving. The chase was eventually called off but deputies were told to continue to follow her as she slowed down. Rupert eventually made it to downtown Milwaukee where her car came to a stop.Rupert has been charged with retail theft, fleeing and drug charges. ALPINE, Calif (KGTV) - An East County woman is recounting the "breathless" moment after she looked in her truck engine and saw a very large rattlesnake. In the backyard of a home along Foss Road sits a 1978 Chevy half-ton truck, Jules Piatek's first-ever vehicle. "I love my truck. I tell my kids if I die, just bury me in my truck," said Piatek.RELATED: 6-foot-long rattlesnake found in Santee after nearly attacking dogShe's not alone when it comes to loving the truck.  Last week, just past 10 a.m., she stood in her yard and saw it."Glanced to my left and just caught a glimpse of the snake in my engine," said Piatek. When Piatek took a closer look, she saw it's head and then the rest of it, coiled up near the starter."Oh, hell no! I don't want that snake anywhere near me. He was way too big and way too fat," said Piatek.RELATED: What to do in the event of a rattlesnake bitePiatek backed away slowly."When you see it, you really start to panic. Holy crap, what is it going to do?" said Piatek. What Piatek did manage to do was take a few photos, before calling up professional snake wrangler Tom Minga. He arrived and used snake tongs to remove it from the engine."It was shady, just in there just hanging out," said Minga.Minga says it was a Southern Pacific, the most common local rattlesnake and about 4-feet long. It's hardly the first oversized rattler of the season. Minga just caught another one a few homes down.A few days ago, 10News reported on the discovery of a 6-foot-long Red Diamond rattler that surprised a woman and her little dog in a Santee backyard.Minga says the giant sizes mean despite the lack of rain this winter, food remains aplenty and the snakes should continue to be an active snake season. He added that he will relocate the rattlesnake somewhere in the backcountry. 1837
