Younger gun owners report carrying their firearms on them much more frequently than older gun owners, expressing a higher level of support for concealed carry, according to a poll conducted in July by Ipsos in partnership with Newsy for its new special report "Young Guns."While younger Americans in the survey were just as likely to own guns (28 percent) as older generations (27 percent), they were almost twice as likely to report carrying their guns on them, with 43 percent of younger gun owners (ages 18-34) polled saying they carry a gun at least once a month compared to 23 percent of older American gun owners (ages 35 and up). While popular belief may view younger generations as less tolerant of guns, the Newsy/Ipsos survey results show a far more nuanced view. The survey also reveals the emerging habits and attitudes for young gun owners after the last decade of rapid growth in gun sales and in the number of concealed carry permits. The findings are explored in "Young Guns," a Newsy special report that flips the narrative about younger Americans and guns by examining changes in the gun industry and its consumers — from an increasing interest in self-defense to a growing online community of gun-focused video channels. The special report debuted on Monday night during Newsy's evening newscast, "The Why," and is now available on most streaming platforms. The Newsy/Ipsos poll also finds: 1414

child walked out of his daycare classroom in Monroe, Ohio, on Monday, down the hall past the administrative offices and out the front door before a passing stranger found him and took him to his mother. "I'm just thankful the lady stopped and picked him up, and she was a good lady, she wasn't a crazy person," said Candis Coates, the boy's mother. "I was thankful my son knew my name and where I was and his name." The stranger took the young boy, named AJ, to Coates' workplace, where she was working when the incident happened. She said the daycare didn't even realize AJ was missing until she called them about it after her son was brought to her. Coates said her son walked past the kitchen, administrative offices and the front desk before he unlocked a child-sized door and walked out. She said he then sat on a bench in the entry of the daycare for a bit before wandering into a nearby field, with heavy traffic whizzing nearby on Route 4. "My heart broke seeing him in that huge field, and if he would have went one way or the other..." said Lynzie Jestice, who found AJ and returned him to his mother. She's a nurse and a mother of three herself. Her concerns were also warranted; if AJ had gone one way or the other, he could have wandered onto busy Route 4 or, in the other direction, into the four lanes of Roden Park Drive. "I rolled down my window. I was like, 'Hey, buddy, where's your mom?'" said Jestice. Luckily, AJ knew his mother's name and the name of where she worked, which helped Jestice to take him to the right place. "We have strict policies and protocols to ensure the well-being of our children," said Lydia Cisaruk, a spokesperson with Childtime Daycare, in a statement. "Unfortunately, despite our precautions, a situation arose recently in which a child left the premises. The child was unharmed and was reunited with family members. We are taking all appropriate steps to prevent such a situation from happening in the future. We are re-emphasizing our policies and procedures with all staff members to ensure safety protocols are consistently followed. Nothing is more important to us than our children's safety." — an exploration vehicle that will land the first woman on the moon by 2024 — will make a 43-mile journey from Mansfield, Ohio, to NASA's Plum Brook Station in Sandusky, Ohio on Tuesday. The Ohio Department of Transportation and power crews have spent four years planning the trip to Plum Brook, replacing utility poles and mapping the route. Because the spacecraft can only move at 25 miles per hour, it's expected to take six hours traveling the 43 miles north to Sandusky.NASA said the Orion will spend four months at the Plum Brook Station in Sandusky while it undergoes tests. The spacecraft arrived in Ohio on Monday, after it was flown from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida on the Super Guppy — a cargo plane designed to carry spacecraft equipment. After the spacecraft arrived at Lahm Airport in Mansfield, officials unloaded the spacecraft onto a 135-foot-long truck to take it to the Plum Brook Station in Sandusky. This story was originally published by Kaylyn Hlavaty on 985
