PEORIA, AZ - An Amber Alert for a 2-year-old girl abducted from Peoria Monday morning has been canceled after the girl was found safe several hours later. According to Peoria police, Khaleesi Morales was taken by her non-custodial father, 32-year-old Luis Jesus Morales, around 6 a.m. from a residence near Lake Pleasant and Beardsley roads.Luis is the defendant on an Order or Protection not to have contact with the girl or her mother. According to officials, Luis was arrested and booked into jail by Peoria police Sunday night after violating that Order of Protection, but was released at 5:14 a.m. on Monday.Police said Luis went to the child's Peoria home Monday morning, opened a window, broke the screen out, stepped on his young son's hand and assaulted the mother before taking Khaleesi. He reportedly stole the mother's vehicle and headed southbound on Lake Pleasant Road. Pfizer announced Monday that its COVID-19 vaccine candidate has been 90% effective. In a press release, the company said that in Phase 3 trials, the vaccine has proven to promote a vaccine efficacy rate above 90% following the two-shot regimen. The Associated Press said that while Pfizer's announcement means the company is on track to file an application for emergency use authorization later this month, it does not mean a vaccine is "imminent" and more studies are needed.Pfizer's vaccine candidate began Phase 3 testing in the summer and is among a handful of vaccine candidates that could be distributed in the coming months pending FDA approval.Phase 3 trials consist of testing about 30,000 voluntary participants in a double-blind study — meaning half of those participating receive the vaccine, and half receive a placebo. Pfizer's vaccine requires two shots, which need to be taken 28 days apart.According to Pfizer, 90% of those who were tested for the vaccine had developed protection against the virus seven days following the second shot.Pfizer is already in the process of producing millions of doses of its vaccine candidate after the U.S. government agreed to pay .95 billion for 100 million doses of the vaccine, should it prove effective. If and when the FDA grants approval for the vaccine, it will be distributed to hospitals around the country by the U.S. military in an effort the Trump administration has dubbed "Operation Warp Speed.Even though hundreds of thousands of doses of the Pfizer vaccine will be ready for shipment if it is approved for emergency use, it will need to be rationed in the first months of its availability. According to a playbook for "Operation Warp Speed," essential health care workers and people in high-risk populations would have the first opportunity to get a COVID-19 vaccine. The rest of the general public will be able to get the vaccine as more doses become available later in 2021.Pfizer was one of a handful of companies that pledged in September not to distribute their vaccine under political pressure, and would only do so if it proved to be effective in large scale trials.Monday's announcement sent stock market futures through the roof, as investors eyed a return to economic normalcy should Pfizer's vaccine be given emergency approval in the coming days or weeks.President Donald Trump also celebrated the announcement in a tweet on Monday morning."STOCK MARKET UP BIG, VACCINE COMING SOON. REPORT 90% EFFECTIVE. SUCH GREAT NEWS!" Trump tweeted. 2524

People in Boston came together Sunday to run a course that spelled out the city's name, five years after deadly bomb blasts went off during the Boston Marathon. The city's triathlon team, Zoom Multisport, began what they call the #BostonRun two weeks after the 2013 bombings, said Greg Soutiea, one of the organizers. Several members of the club were stopped short of finishing the race or, for the ones who did finish, they were still downtown when the bombs exploded."A lot of people on our team needed closure," Soutiea said. "It was a way for our team to come together ... and support each other."Between 10 and 15 people ran that first year, he said; this year, about 150 people participated."We were all affected by the tragic events that occurred on a day that has always been so special to us," the club said on Instagram. "Today we ran our 6th Annual #BostonRun to remember those who we lost, those who are unable to run, those who fought to protect us, & for those who will toe the starting line tomorrow to fulfill their hopes & dreams."On April 15, 2013, two bomb blasts went off near the finish line of the Boston Marathon, killing three and wounding at least 260 others. One of the bombers, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, was killed in a shootout with police days after the bombing. His brother, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, was arrested, and in 2015, he admitted to and was found guilty of carrying out the bombing and was sentenced to death. The attacks created an outpouring of local support and resilience that coalesced around the hashtag #BostonStrong. Two years after the attacks, the city of Boston officially named April 15 "One Boston Day," marking it as a day to encourage acts of kindness and goodwill. This year, the city of Boston observed a moment of silence at 2:49 p.m. on Sunday as part of the fifth anniversary of the terrorist attack.  1863

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Florida — A heroic act caught on video.A baby nearly choked to death at a Florida mall but quick-thinking officers who just happened to be nearby stepped up to save her life. The incident unfolded nearly two weeks ago. One-year old Lucia Graham was rescued by two Palm Beach Gardens, Florida officers who happened to be eating lunch nearby when she started choking."They were there for a reason and that reason was to save her life," said Ana Jaramillo de Graham, Lucia's mother. In the surveillance video, Jaramillo de Graham can be seen with her two kids, including Lucia's toddler brother, enjoying Kid's Day at Palm Beach Gardens Mall."We got hungry, and like we always do, we went to Chick-fil-A," she said.Lucia then started choking on a chicken nugget."She looked at me with her eyes wide open. She tried to do something with her mouth — she couldn't cough, couldn't do anything," said Jaramillo de Graham. The mother tried a technique taught to her by her pediatrician, which involved sharp blows to the baby's back to dislodge the object. She said in a panic she must not have been performing the technique hard enough, so she started screaming for help.Officer Robert Ayala and Officer Rafael Guadelupe rushed over right away."Officer Ayala stepped in, I handed her to him. He sat down and so quickly started performing what he needed to do to make sure she was OK. And I sat on the floor panicked. I just wanted to make sure she was OK," she said. Finally, the chicken was removed and Lucia was able to breathe again."They're our heroes. They are the best, best angels we could've had that day at the mall," Jaramillo de Graham said.Lucia was immediately checked by EMT staff at the mall. Despite the close call, baby Lucia is 100 percent healthy."They knew exactly what to do to save her life," Lucia's mother said. "So, thank you so much officers because if it wasn't for you guys, we probably, definitely wouldn't be here with our Lucia."Jaramillo de Graham recommends all parents take classes so they can properly administer CPR or life saving techniques to children if they are choking. On Thursday night, those officers were honored by city council and Lucia's parents. 2260
