BEIJING, April 9 (Xinhua) -- Venezuela President Hugo Chavez concluded his working visit to China and left Beijing on Thursday night.     During his two-day stay, Chavez met with Chinese President Hu Jintao and Vice President Xi Jinping respectively, exchanging views on enhancing the bilateral strategic partnership.     Chavez also visited the Party School of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) earlier on Thursday, the highest training institution for CPC officials. Addressing about 100 Chinese officials, he said the two countries witnessed great progress in their cooperation in economy, science and technology areas. BEIJING, April 1 (Xinhua) -- China's top political advisor Wednesday called for a more transparent and modern information system for donors to promote the integrity of charity organizations.     Jia Qinglin, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, was speaking to delegates at the 20th anniversary conference of the China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation (CFPA).     Jia said the foundation should work harder to create a public service platform for donors to easily contribute while being able to track where and how their donations were used.     Charity organizations should make better use of modern telecommunications and the Internet to promote transparency, so that people could be proud of their contributions, he said.     Jia said charity organizations should further improve their administration and promote public credibility, by fully implementing tax break policies for donors.     The CFPA has poured almost 2.4 billion yuan into poverty relief over the past 20 years, benefiting 7.18 million people.

BEIJING, Feb. 7 (Xinhua) -- The Communist Party of China (CPC) has called for beefing up efforts to further push forward peaceful development of relations between the mainland and Taiwan.     A meeting on Taiwan work, held from Friday through Saturday, pointed out that major breakthrough had been made in development of relations across the Taiwan Straits in 2008.     The meeting urged doing solid job to further push forward development of cross-Straits relations and the process of cross-Straits consultations, continuing the progressive method of easy things first, difficult things later; and economic affairs first, political affairs later.     It urged consolidating the political bases that the two sides both oppose "Taiwan independence" and adhere to the "1992 Consensus", to maintain the momentum of the improving cross-Straits relations.     It urged vigorously beefing up economic exchanges and cooperation, fully realizing direct transport, postal and trade links, striving for normalization of economic relations and working for institutionalizing economic cooperation.     It orders taking effective measures to help Taiwan businesses on the mainland to overcome difficulties, implementing a series of policies that benefit Taiwan compatriots, beefing up cooperation in dealing with the international financial crisis.     It also urged vigorously pushing forward all-round exchanges, with emphasis on promoting cultural and educational exchanges and involving more Taiwan people in cross-Straits exchanges.     Jia Qinglin, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, attended the meeting and made a speech. Jia, who is also Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, urged following the guidelines put forward by CPC Central Committee General Secretary Hu Jintao on Taiwan work.     The meeting was presided over by State Councilor Dai Bingguo. The Taiwan Work Office of the CPC Central Committee director Wang Yi delivered a work report at the meeting.

SANYA, April 17 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao met here Friday with Kazakhstan's President Nursultan Nazarbayev and discussed the measures to withstand the impact of the global financial crisis.     The two leaders, who were in the city of Sanya for the 2009 meeting of the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) in south China's Hainan Province, expressed willingness to make concerted efforts to cope with the crisis. He said the two countries should:     -- take effective measures to maintain the growth of bilateral trade;     -- fulfill previous agreements and give priority to the cooperation in the energy and resources sectors;     -- reinforce financial and investment cooperation to ensure smooth implementation of major cooperation projects;     -- promote cooperation in the non-resources field, such as infrastructures, so as to forge a more dynamic bilateral trade relation.     Nazarbayev said the two countries had signed a series of cooperative documents during his visit, which fully reflected the common will of the two nations to jointly resist the financial crisis and China's strong support to Kazakhstan.     He believed that China would certainly be able to cope with the challenges, which was crucial for strengthening the international effort in combating the crisis.     Kazakhstan agreed with China's tentative plan on enhancing economic and trade cooperation between the two countries and was ready to work with China to boost cooperation in such sectors as oil and gas, agriculture, technology innovation, finance and transportation, he said.     The BFA, established in 2001, is a high-level forum where governments, businesses and scholars promote regional economic integration and bring Asian countries closer to their development goals.     Under the theme "Asia: Managing Beyond Crisis," more than 1,600participants will discuss how to cope with the international financial crisis.
