BEIJING, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- China honored a common officer, who devoted himself to his work as a file clerk at the military archives, at a ceremony held here Sunday. Liu Yiquan had worked as a clerk and then a consultant at the archives of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) for about 38 years. He had processed more than 830,000 pieces of military archives. BEIJING, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang on Friday called for global cooperation in the fight against A/H1N1 influenza, in order to better protect the people's health and lives. Li made the remarks at the International Scientific Symposium on Influenza A/H1N1 Pandemic Response and Preparedness, hosted by China's Ministry of Health with the support of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Lancet. Premier Wen Jiabao chaired a meeting of the leading group under the State Council for the development of China's western regions. Vice Premier Li Keqiang also attended the meeting. The meeting discussed and passed a guideline on maintaining stable and fast economic growth in the western regions amid the global economic downturn. The government would carry on with its policy to develop the western regions as the policy proved effective in boosting economic and social progresses there in the 10 years since its launch.
