SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Local supporters of both Joe Biden and Donald Trump were watching the election vote count closely throughout Friday.Ellen Nash, who heads the San Diego chapter of the Black American Association of Califorina, a minority advocacy group, put up her Biden/Harris yard sign about a month ago.During the election season, she helped organize a voter registration campaign. Since election night, it's been a constant case of the nerves."Incredibly excited, praying night and day," said Nash.Her eyes have been glued to the television and coverage of the vote count. Throughout Friday, her candidate edged closer to being declared the winner."I will feel relieved that the trauma is over. I'm speaking as a black woman who has been under significant trauma the last four years, in terms of some of the language and behavior of the leader of the free world. Hopeful change is coming," said Nash.There is no questioning her dislike of President Trump, but on this day, she is focused on the country’s future."I believe Biden can bring this country together. I believe he can help us heal as a nation," said Nash.It's a different opinion for local Trump supporter, Blake Marnell.During the campaign, Marnell garnered national attention for wearing a brick wall suit, illustrating his support of President Trump’s border security policy. Trump even called him up on stage, as Marnell attended some 15 rallies where the president appeared."He has the right to make these legal moves. He shouldn't be conceding ... mainstream media can do anything they want in terms of calling an election. That doesn’t make it so," said Marnell.Marnell backs Trump's vow to press on with recount and lawsuits involving his claims of voting fraud. After Trump spoke Thursday, some criticized him for alleging fraud but providing no evidence."It would be irresponsible to produce evidence of fraud in a press conference. The time and place for producing evidence would be in discovery in any court proceedings ... The vote count is not ideal, but I'm still hopeful," said Marnell.Marnell plans to attend a weekend Trump rally in Phoenix. He also attended a rally in Las Vegas Wednesday."I would go to show my support for the president. He has fought long and hard for us over the past for years, and I don’t intend to abandon the fight for him," said Marnell. 2355

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Inside the 3D Innovations Lab at Rady Children's Hospital, the hearts, bones, skulls, and spines of patients are brought to life in a new way.Justin Ryan, Ph.D. is director of the lab. Using 3D printers, they can replicate a patient's anatomy down to every precise detail, giving doctors critical information before surgery.“The concept is by giving our doctors more information they can perform a better procedure; they can even perform it with less time. So that means less time under bypass, less time under anesthesia, which is great for the patients themselves," said Ryan.For example, if a patient is a candidate for a stent or valve, doctors could use the 3D model to try different sizes before entering the operating room. “We give them more information to plan a better procedure," said Ryan. While some of the models take several hours, many can be created within the day. “There isn’t an average day, I might have a cardiac case in the morning, an ortho case in the evening, I'll have a doctor have an idea for a medical device that they wanted to design or develop, and that all happens here," said Ryan. Ryan says the 3D models are also useful when explaining the procedure to families. The technology is currently being funded by grants and donations, at no extra cost to families. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - In just a few weeks, voters will decide the fate of the San Diego Chargers' former home, now known as SDCCU Stadium.In a recent 10News/Union-Tribune poll, Measure G, known as SDSU West, is the clear front-runner.With the clock winding down, backers of both Soccer City and SDSU West are blanketing the airwaves in hopes of winning over voters.10News analyzed two advertisements currently airing on our station and put their messages to the test, separating fact from fiction.The first ad we looked at deals with Measure E, better known as Soccer City. The ad features soccer star Landon Donovan asking two people if they want to see the future. After showing one of them a video of the design planned for the location, one of the people asks Donovan how much it will cost for what he saw. Donovan says, "It won't cost you a dime."10News analyzed that statement and found it to be in a grey area.According to a San Diego City Attorney analysis, a private developer would normally pay the city for staff time spent processing its development. It’s unclear whether any city staff time will be reimbursed.Also, the City Attorney analysis noted the initiative does not establish the actual amount of rent the city would be paid for a 99-year lease of the property.The ad goes on to claim taxpayers get the same stadium that's currently there for the next ten years and it's going to cost six million dollars a year. Team 10 can’t verify timing but according to the City Attorney analysis, Measure G provides for the sale of approximately 132 acres.The measure doesn't talk about time frames and does not guarantee that the property would be sold or that any specific development would be built.Team 10 also read through the City of San Diego Office of the Independent Budget about stadium costs. The report says the stadium historically operated at a deficit.Officials with Soccer City disagreed with some points of our analysis saying the initiative pays fair market value. They also pointed to provisions in the ballot language saying it shows city costs will be covered.Team 10 also took a look at a Measure G ad starring former San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders.The ad starts with Sanders saying “Voters have a big decision in November. The choice is clear, SDSU West, Measure G on the ballot is a once in a lifetime chance to grow the university to meet the needs of future students.”The ad says Measure G will create a western campus for SDSU with a research center, a beautiful public park along the restored San Diego river, affordable housing and a home for SDSU football and soccer.A 10News analysis found those statements to also be in a grey area.All of that could happen, but the city attorney's analysis says voter approval of this measure does not guarantee that the property would be sold or that any specific development would be built. It goes on to say if the property is sold to SDSU, the Board of Trustees of the California State University will determine the use of the property in its sole discretion - through a Campus Master Plan revision process. A Campus Master Plan revision does not require City approval.The review also notes the initiative does not address who would plan, build and maintain the river park.An official with Measure G sent 10News a statement saying: 3334

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- In response to growing community outrage over a man who was released on bail a day after being arrested on attempted kidnapping charges, the San Diego County Sheriff's Department has released surveillance video of the incident in hopes of alleviating concern.The incident happened Sunday just before 3 p.m. in the parking lot of Costco Warehouse located at 1755 Hacienda Drive in Vista.A couple and their two small children were backing out of a parking stall when the suspect opened the rear vehicle door. The suspect attempted to remove the 2-year-old child from the car.Adam Glavinic, 37, was arrested for attempted kidnapping and being under the influence of a controlled substance and was booked into the Vista Detention Facility.Outrage ensued following reports that Glavinic was released from jail on a 0,000 bail the next day.WATCH: Growing outrage over attempt kidnapping suspect's release on bail"The Sheriff's Department in partnership with the D.A.'s Office are now releasing the video due to understandable concern from community members," said Lt. Ricardo Lopez, Media Relations Director for the San Diego County Sheriff's Department."It is understandable that anytime an incident involves a child in the vicinity of an event, it can produce fear and anxiety on the part of parents and community. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Mayor Kevin Faulconer is among local leaders expected to leave for Mexico City Sunday morning. The trip, which includes Imperial Beach Mayor Serge Dedina, is meant to strengthen ties between the border. The mayors plan to discuss border infrastructure projects, pollution in the Tijuana River Valley and economic ties with leadership in Mexico. So we certainly wish that not to be something to be toyed with,” said Jason Wells, Executive Director of the San Ysidro Chamber of Commerce. The San Ysidro Port of Entry is the busiest land crossing in the U.S. with nearly 100,000 vehicles and pedestrians crossing every day. 1098
