¡¡¡¡It is not news that Bugatti makes very expensive automobiles. A Bugatti Chiron, the brand's basic model, costs about million. Bugatti's latest creation, though, sets a new bar in price and exclusivity. Bugatti's La Voiture Noire cost €16.7 million, or almost million, including taxes. Before taxes, the car cost .5 million.According to Bugatti, La Voiture Noire is the most expensive new car ever sold and only one will be made. Bugatti did not reveal the identity of the buyer. It is someone with an enormous attachment to the Bugatti brand, the automaker said. It's also clearly someone with immense financial resources.Bugatti's new La Voiture Noire is designed to recall the Bugatti Type 57 SC Atlantic of the 1930s. Only four of those cars were made and, today, they're among the most valuable cars in the world. They can be worth more than million, according to Hagerty Insurance, a company that tracks collector car values. One of those cars became known as "La Voiture Noire" which means simply, the black car. Only three are known to survive. The fourth seems to have disappeared shortly before the German invasion of France during World War II. Its whereabouts remain unknown. The Type 57 SC Atlantic was designed by Jean Bugatti, son of Bugatti founder Ettore Bugatti, at a time when the bodies for most high-end cars were created by separate body makers rather than by the automobile companies themselves. 1443
¡¡¡¡Laurie Sylvia, the fourth person in Massachusetts infected with Eastern equine encephalitis (EEE) since the beginning of August, has died.Sylvia was being treated at Tufts Medical Center in Boston after contracting the dangerous mosquito-borne virus that causes brain swelling in humans, said Jeremy Lechan, Tufts' senior media relations specialist. The other cases of infection this month are those of two men over 60 and another man between 19 and 30.This is the first time EEE cases have been reported in Massachusetts since 2013.State epidemiologist Catherine Brown told CNN in a statement that warmer temperatures and above-average rainfall in July sped up virus replication in mosquitoes, which could explain the uptick in EEE activity.Migratory birds might have even spread a new strain of the virus, though lab tests that could prove that have yet to be completed, she said.In Florida and Delaware, the virus has been detected in sentinel chickens, though neither state has seen any cases reported in humans.EEE kills one-third of those infectedEEE is rare but potentially fatal. Anywhere from 5 to 10 human cases are reported every year, but about 30% of all cases are fatal, according to the 1213
¡¡¡¡Italian Premier Giuseppe Conte says he is restricting travel nationwide to try to stop the spread of the new coronavirus. Conte said Monday night a new government decree will require all people in Italy to demonstrate they need to work, have health conditions or other limited legitimate reasons to travel outside their home areas. He said the restrictions will take effect on Tuesday and like those in northern Italy will last until April 3. Pubs had been closed in northern Italy, with eateries and cafes also ordered to close at dusk. Now that crackdown is extended to the entire country. 604
¡¡¡¡It seems like a new organic tampon company is breaking into the market every day. As far as medical research goes, there's mixed reviews on whether buying organic tampons, pads, and other hygiene products is the right thing to do. However, that hasn't stopped a lot of people from going organic anyways. Customer Jasmin Rosil said, "There is a huge movement for positive period conversation." Rosil is a buyer for the Turnip Truck, and she feels strongly that organic tampons are better."There has been a wide awareness of things like fiberglass in cotton tampons and pads which would otherwise aggravate the vaginal wall, it would actually make your period symptoms worse." Obviously companies dispute those findings, so we reached out to the medical experts at the Obstetrics & Gynecology office here in Nashville. They said they're excited that women now have more options, but so far, there's no medical research to say one way or the other if organic is better for your body. The trend, though, is still running strong.Rosil said after she began using the organic products, her cramps have lessened, and she feels better."A lot of the time we found that an organic options are just going to be a clean, simple, cotton product." While more research needs to be done, it's certainly a trend that's gained a lot of traction in the past few years. 1363
