SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The Rolling Stones are postponing its 15-city North American tour due to the coronavirus outbreak.The band's "No Filter Tour" was set to kick off in San Diego on May 8 at SDCCU Stadium and visit cities including St. Louis, Austin, Louisville, Cleveland, and Atlanta.“We’re hugely disappointed to have to postpone the tour. We are sorry to all the fans who were looking forward to it as much as we were, but the health and safety of everyone has to take priority. We will all get through this together — and we’ll see you very soon,” The Rolling Stones wrote in a joint statement.The tour's promoter, AEG, has advised ticket holders to keep their original tickets and wait for more information on rescheduled shows. 741

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Thousands of Californians gathered Saturday night across the state to protest the newest restrictions put in place by Governor Gavin Newsom to slow the spread of the coronavirus.Last Saturday, Syndie Ly helped organize the first "Curfew Breakers" rally. "Across 16 cities, we had 10,000 people show up," she said.Ly lives in Huntington Beach and said in four days their Facebook page "blew up."She said people are frustrated by the curfew from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. saying it is an overreach, "when the government starts telling you when you can leave the house, how many people you can invite over to your own home."What's happening in the U.S. reminds her of when her family escaped in Vietnam."I was born in China and my parents emigrated to Vietnam, and we came here [to the U.S.] legally but we came here as refugees to escape North Vietnam during the fall of Vietnam ... Just being told what to do, a lot of the government overreach, I feel we're actually on the brink of getting back to that and that's why I'm involved in this," said Ly.She said between layoffs and businesses being forced to close, the impact on people's livelihoods is worse than the virus itself."It's our lives, and we feel we are responsible individuals that can make our own decisions," Ly said.The rallies will continue every Saturday, starting at 10:01 p.m. until Ly and the organizers see change, she added.In San Diego, a rally is planned for Saturday at 10:01 p.m. at 910 N. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- This year, the Drug Enforcement Administration is adding vaping products to the list of what they’ll accept on National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. The agency will be accepting prescriptions and vaping products on October 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. According to the agency, nearly 10 million Americans misused controlled prescription drugs in 2018. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that there have been 33 deaths in 24 states and nearly 1,500 lung injuries from vaping in 2019.The agency is treating the events like an outbreak, saying the best advice is to avoid using all forms of E-Cigarettes. The DEA decided to add vaping products to their drug take back event to make sure they're safely removed."If people throw them away, if people dump them down the toilet, if people store them in a drawer, they're still not safe," says DEA Special Agent in Charge Colin Roane." SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The University of California San Diego is planning to make a new first impression. New renderings show the schools intentions of building a "‘grand entrance" to attract more students and people from San Diego. A 3,000 seat amphitheater, a six-building student center with retail and restaurants are just some of the things showcased in the new plans. “There is hardly a thing that exists in the Gaslamp or Balboa that doesn’t exist here,” said UCSD Chancellor Pradeep Khosla on the renderings. UCSD believes public transportation that’s being built near and on-campus will help with the future influx of people they want checking out their amenities. The blue line trolley and the three stations around the area are forecasted to be completed by 2021. “We want to be one more destination to the San Diego experience,” added Khosla, “we’re gonna change this campus to have these things so students can hang out and the community will come here to hang out too.” The price tag is still being worked out but it’s expected to cost well into the hundreds of millions of dollars. 1100
