SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Police say a man was stabbed by his ex-girlfriend in a home on 3500 block of Adams Avenue just before 2:45 p.m. Sunday.A witness said she saw the man hobbling after the ex-girlfriend as she drove off. The witness followed the car long enough to get the license plate number.The man was bleeding from the right thigh.Police say neighbors jumped in to help the man, before he was transported to the hospital. Police say he is in stable condition.The ex-girlfriend returned to the scene and was arrested. Police say another man was arrested, who was involved with the ex-girlfriend.Adams Avenue westbound at 36th Street is shut down, and may reopen around 6 p.m., according to police. 728

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — California voters are right to think they already weighed in on how big cages should be for egg-laying hens.In 2008, voters ushered in Proposition 2, which sought to free egg-laying hens from tiny cages. It didn't outlaw cages but barred California farmers from keeping hens — as well as calves raised for veal and breeding pigs — in pens so small they virtually couldn't move.Since then, supermarket shelves have filled with cage-free egg varieties. Corporations like McDonald's, Costco and Taco Bell have committed to using cage-free products.RELATED: Proposed California initiative seeks to end high-speed railBut a decade later, voters are being asked to revisit the issue with Proposition 12, the Farm Animal Confinement Initiative.The Humane Society of the United States, the issue's primary proponent, says the measure is needed to update California standards and to apply those standards to out-of-state farmers selling their products in California. They have to eat, sleep, defecate and lay eggs in the same small space every day for their entire life," said Josh Balk, vice president at the Humane Society of the United States. It's definitely worth it. I think all this tax payers expense, they're getting their money's worth, I'll tell you that."Operation Boo is just a small part of agents' role of checking in on parolees. (KGTV) - A new California law could let convicted killers out of prison, and San Diego County's district attorney said her office will fight it on a case-by-case basis.Senate Bill 1437 passed the state Legislature last year and went into effect on January 1. It narrows the definition of murder so that only people who are involved in a killing can be charged with that crime.Before the law, accomplices in a killing could also have been charged with murder."It may let murderers go free, because of how far it goes," said San Diego County District Attorney Summer Stephan.Stephan said her office will challenge some re-sentencing hearings based on the new law, although she said they don't know how many there will be.One possible case involves Kurese Bell, who He as convicted of murder in 2016 for his role in the robbery of a North Park marijuana dispensary.During the robbery, Bell and another man, Marlon Thomas, got into a shootout with a security guard at the dispensary. The guard shot and killed Thomas.The DA's office argued that Bell should face murder charges because his actions in the robbery led to the shootout and, ultimately, Thomas' death.Bell is currently serving a 65-year-to-life sentence.Stephan said criminals need to be held accountable for the crimes they commit and cause."It's really important that each offender is held culpable at the right level," she said. "That's what justice is about."Supporters of the new law say it is a vital part of California's efforts at criminal justice reform. They say the old law unfairly targeted young minorities.On its website, the group Restore California says the new law makes sentencing in California more "equitable." (KGTV)- Video of a disturbing racist rant was captured in downtown San Diego Tuesday, and the man who experienced the verbal attack is sharing his story.Rodney Jackson was working as a security guard outside of the Pinnacle on the Park apartment complex in the East Village when an unidentified woman began hurling racial slurs at him.“I was trying my best to diffuse the situation, and she just continued to antagonize,” said Jackson. “It kind of caught me off guard because I’ve never dealt with anything like that before.”RELATED: Mother responds to video showing woman hurling racial slurs at son (VIDEO)In the video he recorded, the woman repeatedly attacks Jackson with racial slurs, even after he asks her to stop.“I started recording just to save myself because of everything going on,” he said.The unprovoked verbal attack happened in the early morning hours on Tuesday.Jackson said the woman was kicked out of a party at the high rise.“She went outside and started arguing with some people walking back, I asked her to come in the building, and I’ll call her a cab,” he said.He said she appeared to be intoxicated and suddenly directed her anger at him.“I told her again, ‘I called you a cab, but I don’t agree with the way you’re calling me all these different names’ and she just continues.”The video shows the woman calling Jackson the N-word repeatedly during the confrontation.“If you’re going to act like a n-----, then I’m going to call you n-----,” the unidentified woman shouts at Jackson. “I don’t [expletive] care!”Jackson remains calm and composed as the woman continues to harass him.“My mother and my grandmother, they raised me never to let anyone get me too upset to where it gets me out of character or changes the person that I am,” he said. “They raised me to be a strong black man.”Jackson said he grew up in National City in a multi-cultural neighborhood, and this was his first time experiencing something like this.“I’ve never looked at people by their color,” he said. “I played semi-pro football for a San Diego team, and we had people from all kinds of ethnic backgrounds, and we’re all just a family.”Jackson’s brother and mother shared the video on social media to highlight the issue of racism.He said he hopes the painful video will serve as a reminder that racism does still exists, even in that community.“Be open-minded and accept people for who they are.
