SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police responded Monday after a vehicle crashed into a Chick-fil-A in Mira Mesa.The crash happened on the 10700 block of Camino Ruiz near Mira Mesa Community Park. Authorities say no one was injured.Due to the crash, the inside of the restaurant was closed for the day as a structural engineer inspected the damage. Authorities haven't said what caused the crash.  407

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Nearly a year after the city opened a facility for the homeless to store their belonging in, residents say they are still being impacted.“There’s human feces all over the alleys,” said one community member during the public comment.At the meeting, a Lieutenant with the San Diego Police Department’s homeless outreach team announced they would be adding a foot patrol in the area starting next week.For the first time, representatives from the County of San Diego said they will also be diverting resources to the area to help with mental health issues.Meantime, the city is searching for another location to open a storage facility in District 9.While the exact location has not yet been announced, officials said two sites are currently being considered, at least one of them is in City Heights. 824

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – Petco Park in downtown San Diego is being transformed into a destination for those looking for family-friendly Halloween fun.From Oct. 23-Nov. 1, the San Diego Padres are hosting The Halloween Trail at Petco Park – an event described as “a socially distanced one-way Halloween-themed trail and pumpkin patch in Gallagher Square where guests will have the opportunity to visit various themed booths, collect candy and toys and partake in the spooky festivities.”As guests journey on the decorated Halloween Trail, booths will be in place to offer treats “via contactless delivery.”After completing the trail, guests can enjoy their candy or purchased food/drinks while watching a Halloween move in the park -- all while socially distanced.Adults 21 and over will have their own special Halloween experience: “The Halloween Trail at Petco Park Movie Night, a special outdoor movie experience for adults 21 and up complete with Halloween snacks and a Halloween-favorite movie. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- One person was killed and five people were injured after a crash near Scripps Ranch Sunday afternoon.The crash happened around 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of Pomerado Road and Avenue of Nations near Thurgood Marshall Middle School.Police said an 18-year-old driver and one passenger in a gray BMW were heading home from a basketball tournament when they swerved into oncoming traffic.They crashed into a white Chevy with four people inside, all between the ages of 70 and 90.The driver of the Chevy sedan, a 90-year-old woman, died from her injuries, police said.At least five ambulances were requested at the scene, according to authorities.The cause of the crash is unknown at this time, but the driver told police he had mechanical trouble with his brakes. Alcohol and drugs are not considered a factor in the accident, police said.   917
