From 2010-2015, the CDC said about 100 outbreaks were reported linked to animals in public settings like fairs, zoos, and farms.If interacting with animals — such as feeding, holding, or petting — or touching exhibit areas, guests should wash their hands afterward. Even if visitors don't interact with any animals, germs can still be spread from surfaces around exhibits.Running water and soap are best to use, but if not available, the CDC recommends using an alcohol-based sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. If gloves are worn, the CDC still recommends washing hands afterward.Especially at fairgrounds, food can find its way into animal exhibit areas. The CDC warns that visitors should not eat or drink around animals or their living areas. Food shouldn't be shared with animals and visitors should not eat or drink any raw, or unpateurized products.For parents, always supervise children around animals. Children 5 years old and younger should not have any contact with reptiles, amphibians, or live poultry because those animals are more likely to make them sick, according to the CDC.Parents should also leave strollers, toys, pacifiers, and cups outside animal exhibit areas. (KGTV) - A New York woman is being charged for poisoning a "look-alike" friend via cheesecake and stealing her identity documents.Viktoria Nasyrova, 42, of Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, was charged with attempted murder, burglary, and other charges for allegedly poisoning a Queens woman, who resembled Nasyrova, Queens District Attorney Richard Brown announced Wednesday.Investigators said Nasyrova gifted cheesecake laced with the Russian-made tranquilizer phenazepam to the victim on Aug. 28, 2016. The victim began eating the dessert before falling ill and passing out."This is a bizarre and twisted crime that could have resulted in the death of a Queens woman, whose only fault was that she shared similar features with the defendant," Brown said in a release. "Luckily, the Queens woman survived the poisoning."The victim and Nasyrova resemble one another, officials said: Both have dark hair, the same skin complexion, and speak Russian.According to investigators, the victim's last memory that day was of Nasyrova sitting beside her in her home.The victim was discovered the following day unconscious in her bed, wearing lingerie, with phenazepam pills scattered around her — as if she had attempted suicide, officials said. She was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.When the victim returned home from the hospital, however, she realized her passport, employment authorization card, a gold ring, and cash were all missing. Investigators said those items were later recovered when Nasyrova was finally arrested on March 20, 2017.Nasyrova faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted. She is being held without bail and will appear in court on May 25.According to People Magazine, Nasyrova has also eluded Russian authorities and is charged in the 2014 death of 54-year-old Alla Aleksenko. Gavin Newsom, saying he overstepped his authority when requiring all California registered voters receive a mail-in ballot for the 2020 election.Sutter County Judge Sarah Heckman said Friday that Gov. Newsom did not have the authority to amend or change the state's law through an executive order, which mandated all registered voters get a mail-in ballot and allowed counties to reduce the number of polling locations if in-person voting is offered ahead of Nov. 3, according to court documents.The ruling doesn't affect the results of the 2020 election.Newsom's executive order was made as part of the California Emergency Services Act, or CESA. The act gives the governor special powers during a public emergency.The ruling stemmed from a lawsuit by Assembly members James Gallagher (R-Yuba City) and Kevin Kiley (R-Rocklin), who claimed Newsom didn't have the authority to make the order. California's legislature later passed a similar law to the order.Kiley posted the judge's ruling online, in which the judge wrote, "Executive Order N-67-20 issued by the Governor on June 3, 2020 is void as an unconstitutional exercise of legislative power and shall be of no further force or effect. The California Emergency Services Act (CA Government Code §8550 et seq.) does not authorize or empower the Governor of the State of California to amend statutory law or make new statutory law, which is exclusively legislative function not delegated to the Governor under the CESA."The judge's ruling also put an injunction in place against Newsom, prohibiting him from changing any laws under CESA, according to the documents. 1687
