"Interestingly, the door handles were the cleanest surface, with 1,810 CFU/sq. in. However, one study showed that the average car door handle holds 28 microorganisms per square inch – meaning the average rideshare door handle is 64 times germier."The study compared three random ride-share cars, three taxis and three rental cars.While not all germs are harmful, higher levels of some bacteria pose a risk. The study's samples revealed the presences of bacillus (a type that can cause infections and food poisoning); gram-positive rods, including cocci (which is linked to skin infections, pneumonia, and blood poisoning); gram-negative rods (which tend to be harmful to humans); and yeast (which under the right conditions has the potential cause skin infections, especially in people with compromised immune systems). 1828

(KGTV) - The California Department of Vehicles is reaching out to state residents to make sure they have a valid REAL ID ahead of the 2020 federal deadline. REAL ID cardholders who presented only one residency document when they applied must confirm their address by mail, DMV officials say. The DMV sent 3.6 million letters to cardholders, asking them to verify their mailing address and return the letter to the agency. Anyone who lost or did not receive a letter by Aug. 15 can request one through an online form, DMV officials say. Starting Oct. 1, 2020, all travelers must present a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or other TSA-approved identification, such as a passport or military ID, to fly within the United States. 736

(KGTV) — Saturday, President Donald Trump signed a law approving the use of 9-8-8 as the universal telephone number to reach the National Suicide Prevention Hotline starting in 2022.The National Suicide Hotline Designation Act, which was passed by the U.S. House in September after being approved by the Senate and Federal Communications Commission, will allow individuals to dial the three digits 9-8-8 as opposed to the previous 10-digit hotline number, which is currently 1-800-273-8255 (TALK), CNN reported.The new number will take effect in July 2022.The bill allows states to collect fees aimed at ensuring local crisis centers can support increased volume and directs federal health agencies to submit a report to Congress on strategies to improve support services for LGBTQ youth, minorities, and individuals in rural counties, who are at a higher risk for suicide.In 2019, the FCC estimated that the costs of implementing a three-digit hotline for the first year would be about 0 million and 5 million in the second year, which includes costs for call-center capacity and public awareness campaign. (KSTU) -- A woman who disappeared in Utah's Zion National Park before being found 12 days later is reportedly being investigated for fraud in connection to her disappearance.The Salt Lake Tribune reported the Washington County Sheriff's Office is looking into Holly Courtier's story after accounts of her rescue and how she survived with no food or water raised questions within the department.In the days following the rescue, Courtier's daughter -- who lives in San Diego -- said her mother hit her head and became disoriented in the park; while her sister, Jaime Strong, said Holly never drank from a nearby river because it was possibly toxic.Hearing the accounts after Courtier was able to leave Zion National Park with minimal assistance raised red flags to officials, according to a statement released by the Sheriff's Office."These inconsistencies raised some questions as to the authenticity of the events as reported to law enforcement," said Sheriff Cory C.
