HILLSBORO, Ohio — A dramatic security recording from inside the Highland County Common Pleas Court shows an inmate fleeing his own sentencing hearing on foot, evading deputies in the process, on Tuesday morning.According to court records, 34-year-old Nickolaus Kyle Garrison had in August pleaded guilty to a charge of aggravated possession of methamphetamine. He appeared in court Tuesday to receive a sentence of six months from Judge Rocky Coss.The Highland County Press reported Garrison ran when deputies attempted to take him back into custody after his sentencing.The video released by the county shows Garrison running from the courtroom and out into a hallway, pursued by deputies and a court bailiff. As he runs downstairs, the bailiff attempts to jump over the banister and grab him; the bailiff falls, sliding down the stairs on his back, and Garrison escapes.By the end of the week, Garrison was back in custody. He was captured at a motel in Clinton County around 4:30 a.m. Friday by officers and deputies from multiple law enforcement agencies. Garrison will now face additional charges. Grocery workers continue to be on the front lines during the pandemic.United Way and Kendall-Jackson are now teaming up to get grocery workers more help through a national relief fund they've created.“What we have seen across the county in other disasters natural disasters is that initially there's this outpouring of support and people want to donate, but then it really starts to wane and lag just as the needs are starting to get even bigger,” said Suzanne McCormick, U.S. President of United Way Worldwide.The Grocery Worker's Relief Fund will be available to anyone currently employed by a grocery store.The fund will be giving out 0 per person on a gift card. Anyone who applies will also be connected with the 211 social services helplines in their area to see if they have other needs.United Way says housing insecurity is one of the top issues people are calling 211 about right now.Mental health has also become a much bigger concern among the people who are calling.“While people might call for financial assistance our call specialists who are trained as they start to enter into dialogue, they do discover that there's more there that the person might have anxiety,” said McCormick. “They might be in a domestic violence situation or have very serious mental health issues.”Grocery workers can start applying for the relief fund on October 1 on the United Way website. David Ige extended the state's mandatory 14-day quarantine for all arriving travelers on Wednesday in a bid to keep coronavirus cases in the islands low.Ige said the rule is being extended to the end of July as the state works to solidify a screening process that could soon allow travelers to return in some capacity.Officials said they are planning to install thermal screening stations with facial recognition in the airports by the end of the year.Hawaii has among the lowest COVID-19 infection and mortality rates in the nation.Ige enacted a mandatory self-quarantine for all arriving tourists and residents in March. GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (AP) — Police in Texas say the actor Eddie Hassell has died in a shooting.The 30-year-old was known for his roles in the NBC show “Surface” and the 2010 film “The Kids Are All Right.”Police say the shooting happened early Sunday in the Dallas suburb of Grand Prairie.Officers responded to the shooting in the 3000 block of West Bardin Road at about 1:50 a.m. and located Hassell suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. First aid was rendered as the Waco resident was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.Police say they don't yet have a motive, but that a car had been taken from the scene of the shooting.
