Needless to say, one Sacramento-area California Highway Patrol officer was "shocked" to watch as an overstuffed truck nearly hit an overpass Tuesday.The South Sacramento officer was traveling on State route 50 when he saw the truck's mammoth haul, bags upon bags of bottles and cans, a CHP Facebook post reads. The driver of the truck was still traveling at freeway speeds, with the unsafe load still in tow.After watching the truck's load nearly collide with an overpass, the officer pulled the driver over off and told him to exit the freeway.The driver was given a lawful order to stay parked until he could off load the bottles and cans and transport them a safer way."If you are driving down eastbound US 50 and your load almost hits an over crossing, you might have an unsafe load!!" (KGTV) — National Geographic and Fox Networks will investigate astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson over allegations of sexual misconduct, according to reports.Accounts by two women were published Thursday, claiming Tyson misbehaved in a sexually inappropriate manner with them, according to Patheos.com. The women, a Bucknell University professor and former assistant to Tyson according to the accounts, both claimed the astrophysicist made inappropriate sexual advances toward them.Tyson has not commented on the allegations against him, according to the Associated Press. In a statement to the AP, the producers of the television show "Cosmo" said: "The credo at the heart of 'Cosmos' is to follow the evidence wherever it leads. The producers of 'Cosmos' can do no less in this situation."Tyson was the host of "Cosmos" on Fox in 2014 and a new edition of the series was set to air on National Geographic next year sometime. (KGTV) — The DUI suspected accused in a violent chain-reaction crash on Interstate 15 in Temecula that killed one woman has been charged with second-degree murder.Javier Calder, of Auburn, Washington, was charged with one count of second-degree murder and driving under the influence of a drug with an enhancement of causing great bodily injury, according to ABC-affiliate KABC.If convicted, Calder could face life in prison.Tuesday's crash occurred at about 7:30 a.m. on southbound I-15 near Rancho California Rd. Caldera was speeding in a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck at more than 100 mph when he slammed into the back of a Nissan Altima, according to CHP.The driver of the Altima, 44-year-old Janet Genao of Murrieta, died at the scene, KABC reported.Another vehicle was also struck and sent over the side of the freeway and into a parking structure at Temecula City Hall, the station adds. (KGTV) - The San Diego Police Department is launching its "bait bike" program in Point Loma and Ocean Beach after its success in Pacific Beach.The program outfits bikes with GPS devices that notify officers when a bike is being stolen. Officers are able to track the suspect's location in real time before arresting them.San Diego PD has received enough funding for at least 2 bait bikes for Point Loma and Ocean Beach, according to Councilmember Lorie Zapf’s Office.MAP: Track crimes in your neighborhoodFigures from Pacific Beach indicate officers have arrested 128 bike thieves since the program began, with the program having a 100 percent conviction rate.Bait bikes were first rolled out in SDPD in 2014.It’s estimated more than 3,000 bikes are stolen every year across San Diego County.
