(KGTV) -- New information from the county shows that an anonymous tip led to the inspection and eventual closure of Filippi's.According to the county, the property manager of the complex requested that the Department of Health's Vector Control Program provide a consultation on rodent activity at the complex. After completing the inspection of the building's exterior, inspectors reportedly found a small amount of rodent droppings near the dumpster areas behind the complex. RELATED: Filippi's pizza restaurant in Eastlake Chula Vista closes for good after vermin infestation reportIn February of 2018, the county says inspectors received an anonymous complaint regarding rodents inside Filippi's. The restaurant received a primary inspection report on April 18 showing that an inspector found 20 dried rodent droppings in a back oven and rodent nests in the panels of two ovens. The inspector also reportedly found rodent droppings in utensil storage areas, beneath a stove and in dry storage areas. The report shows that there were several holes in an exterior wall and a door leading to the outdoor trash area. A second inspection was conducted a second day which found six dried mouse droppings and two fresh rat droppings in a dry storage area. Dried urine was also found on plastic wrapper of cardboard pizza boxes and gnaw marks through plastic into boxes, according to the report.  1474

(KGTV) — The Port of San Diego and Regional Airport Authority have reached an agreement over a fee that threatened to delay the revitalization of Chula Vista's waterfront.The Airport Authority agreed to withdraw from a lawsuit challenging a .50 rental car fee added to car rentals at the San Diego International Airport to fund a parking garage for the Chula Vista Bayfront project.Under the settlement, the Port also agreed to a number of provisions, "that protect a number of Airport Authority interests."RELATED: Dispute over airport fee could delay Chula Vista Bayfront project“We have reached a resolution that addresses the funding mechanism for a parking facility that will serve the public for many years to come. CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) -- Three gang members charged in a violent crime spree that stretched from San Ysidro to La Jolla were in court Tuesday in Chula Vista for their preliminary exam. Michael Pedraza, Cesar Alvarado, and Britney Canal are accused of murdering a South Bay businessman last April and kidnapping and shooting a woman who witnessed it. Mya Hendrix was the first took take the stand. She's paralyzed and confined to a wheel chair after being shot three times and left to die at Sunset Cliffs. The judge would not allow the media to show the faces of the defendants in court, but they smirked during much of testimony. Hendrix, 19, said she was friends with the defendants and had done drugs with some of them. She says they turned on her because they thought she stole a backpack with ,500 in it. Hendrix says they kidnapped her, tortured her with a game of Russian Roulette and tased her multiple times. At one point, she testified she was forced to call her mom for ransom money. “I told her I needed ,500. My life depended on it and she was asking me why, and I was forced to say that I had robbed somebody. I wasn’t allowed to say that people had thought I took something from them, they forced me and tased me told me to say that I robbed them," said Hendrix. Prosecutors said the trio drove Hendrix to various locations. "They were telling me they were going to put me into sex trafficking. They were telling me they were selling me to this guy they had at the park. They had me like tied up in this garage with duct tape over my mouth and they were tasing me in front of people," said Hendrix. Prosecutors say Hendrix was in the backseat when the defendants shot and killed a South Bay businessman. According to investigators, the suspects thought 59-year-old Mario Serhan was an undercover cop who was following them. The defendants are charged with fatally shooting him in the head. Witnesses found Serhan slumped over the steering wheel of his car with a gunshot wound to the head. The vehicle was coasting through the intersection of Industrial Blvd. and L Street before it collided with a storage business, police said. Hendrix testified that the trio celebrated the killing. "Ms. Canal was excited. She was like, "good shot babe" cause he was like, "I got him in the dome," testified Hendrix. She said the defendants cleaned the car with bleach to remove any gun powder residue. Shortly after, she says they took her to Sunset Cliffs and tried to murder her. "I walked down the stairs with the gun pointed at me the whole time, pleading for my life, crying he told me to take it with some dignity and not to die like a little *&^%$ and that’s when he shot me the first time, which the bullet hit my ear and I stayed standing. The second time is the one that went in my neck and out of my chest on this side that’s the one where I fell and broke my spinal cord and then as he was walking away he turned around and shot me a third time in the hip. All I could do was lay there and pray," testified Hendrix. She was found hours later near the surf by tourists at Sunset Cliffs. A fourth defendant, Francisco Aranda, is also charged in the case. He's accused of setting Hendrix up. Hendrix says she thought they were friends, but Aranda believed she had stolen from him. Testimony continues Wednesday morning. A judge will decide if there is enough evidence for this case to go to trial. 3431

CIA director Gina Haspel found herself at the center of a political dispute Tuesday amid reports that the White House was blocking her from briefing Senators on the murder of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi.Illinois Democrat Sen. Dick Durbin told CNN's Wolf Blitzer Tuesday that senators were told Haspel will not participate in Wednesday's all-Senate classified briefing alongside Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Defense Secretary James Mattis despite indications that lawmakers on both sides of the aisle would like to hear from her directly about the CIA's assessment regarding Khashoggi's killing."We were told that she would not be attending the briefing for members of Congress," Durbin said."That is extraordinary when we are dealing with the Khashoggi situation, the assertion by the State Department and intelligence agencies, her absence is obvious and its noted, and it raises a serious question as to whether this administration is giving us the whole truth," he added.A US official confirmed that Haspel will not attend the briefing, citing the fact that it is a policy-oriented meeting on Yemen and not a situation a CIA director would typically be involved in alongside the defense secretary and secretary of state.Specifically, Haspel may be able to provide details related to a tape which contains audio of the killing of Khashoggi in the Saudi Arabian consulate in Istanbul, Turkey, in early October.White House national security adviser John Bolton dismissed questions on Tuesday about whether he has listened to the recording and President Donald Trump has previously said that he declined to listen to the audio.Senate Foreign Relations chairman, Sen. Intelligence officials have said the CIA presented the President with a confidence-based assessment given the facts of the situation.Though sources tell CNN that the CIA has assessed with high confidence that the prince directed Khashoggi's murder, which was conducted by members of bin Salman's inner circle, the fact that they don't make a final conclusion gives the White House an out.Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell raised concerns about the "abhorrent" actions by Saudi Arabia during a press briefing when asked if he believes the crown prince and others should be punished for Khashoggi's killing.McConnell noted that senators are currently discussing how to respond but would not answer CNN's question if Haspel should attend Wednesday's briefing.Congressional lawmakers have continued to push for answers from the administration despite the White House's public response.Corker warned Monday that there will be "a lot happening" in Congress on Saudi Arabia, including a vote as soon as this week calling for an end to US involvement in Yemen, as he renewed demands for Haspel to brief senators on Khashoggi's murder.As lawmakers continue to discuss potential options for a response, Trump has signaled he will not take strong action against Saudi Arabia or bin Salman.Two sources told CNN on Monday that the US has "slammed the brakes on" a United Nations Security Council resolution calling for a limited ceasefire and increased humanitarian aid in Yemen over concerns about angering Saudi Arabia.One source familiar with the negotiations over the resolution tells CNN the US "has slammed the brakes on," saying that "we can't support a resolution at the moment."The source also said the move is at odds with what US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley has been signaling to her counterparts at the UN, since she was supportive of the planned resolution weeks ago.The White House declined to comment as did the US Mission to the United Nations. Officials there also refused to comment.State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert responded by stating that "negotiating the Security Council Resolution is important as we look to increase international consensus around Yemen.""Our main focus at this time is offering our support for UN Special Envoy Martin Griffiths who is making progress in his negotiations with the Republic of Yemen and the Houthi rebels," she said.The reason for the delay continues to be a White House worry about angering Saudi Arabia, which strongly opposes the resolution, multiple sources say.
