SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – Thirty-thousand families could have their power shut off at any moment. That’s a lot of mouths to feed when you may be in the dark.“Are we going to have to worry about evacuating?” said Joyce. “What’s going to happen to our animals? All that stuff you start to worry about.”He has a generator that will run the well and some lights, but it doesn’t power everything.“You can’t start the oven or you can’t start you range, you can’t have all the lights on,” said Joyce. That rage and oven are vital tools he needs to not only feed his family, but the 75 other people he’s making holiday dinners for.“Knowing the power would go out we had to start cooking at 5:00 this morning. I didn’t know if it was going to get shut down at 9 a.m. or what have you,” said Joyce. The chef and for Dinner Bell SD raised more than ,000 to helps those who would otherwise go hungry. Joyce selflessly taking on a big project while the threat of fire and no electricity still looms.“Starting tomorrow we’re delivering prime rib and ham dinners along with all the fixing and over 0 in gifts per family,” said Joyce. “Just normal people trying to get by, and have young kids, and just bummed they can’t have a Christmas.”Joyce says because he started early, he was able to get all of the cooking done while the power was still on.As of Wednesday night, about 400 customers in Campo, Descanso, and Potrero had been impacted by the safety shutoffs, according to SDG&E. 1769

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The second night of the San Diego Film Festival brought in big stars, who talked productions, current culture and how much they love our city.On the red carpet, it was like a reunion, stars giving each other accolades and exchanging greetings.Alex Wolff grabbing a moment of Kathryn Hahn's time in front of our camera, "I just want to say how amazing you are in your new movie and you're amazing and I'm a big fan and I'll stop." Hahn responding humbly, telling him she's excited to see his work as well."I've gotten very lucky, these people are actually talented," Topher Grace said. Most people know him for his role as Eric Forman on That 70's Show.Hahn told us she spent the day at the zoo with her daughter, "I love it here!"John Cho telling us he's been here mostly for Comic Con. He noted the Trolley 'cuts through the fun' of the event, joking, "just a bunch of people with masks on with impaired vision crossing railroad tracks, not a big deal San Diego City Council, get it fixed."We asked Kenny Loggins about Top Gun 2, and if he'll write a song to rival "Danger Zone", "I'm not officially working on it, I'm working on it on my own end." He said when he's done, he'll put in a bid, "they're still thinking about it."The stars did get serious, talking on hot topics their productions handled. "I think you know with what's going on in our country and our political discourse, we have to stop speaking to each other as much through these devices and to speak with each other eyeball to eyeball and I think that's the way toward peace versus avariciousness," John Cho said, talking about "Searching".Christian Navarro said he's felt the impact of 13 Reasons Why. "I've traveled the world now for this show and I cannot tell you how many young people have come up to us and said because of your show people have treated me better, because of your show I am still here today."OCtober 10th- 14th is focused on film debuts, some already getting Oscar Buzz.CEO of the San Diego Film Foundation, Tonya Mantooth, gave us her predictions, "I mean I think Jake Gyllenhaal's performance in Wild Life will get him a nomination. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- There's a less joyful side to the holiday season: going into debt. According to a Magnify Money study of last year's holiday spending, Americans racked up an average of ,054 of debt, a 5 percent increase over last year. The study also found more shoppers put that debt on high-interest credit cards. “Doesn't surprise me at all, doesn't surprise me at all, in fact, I’m probably guilty of it too," said Jim Vogt, a San Diego State University lecturer. “It’s a hole that’s real easy to get into and hard to get out of.”Only making minimum payments on that ,050 of holiday debt will take 63 months to pay off, and could cost around 0 in interest fees.Vogt says the number one thing consumers should do before holiday shopping is have a plan and create a budget, write a list of who you'll be shopping for this season. If you are using a credit card, have a plan to pay it off on time.Vogt also warns of being mindful on Black Friday.“Black Friday a lot of it is all temptation, something looks good, but it wasn’t what we planned on," said Vogt. “Some deals aren’t as good as they seem, you have to be smart and do your research.”Smart Shopping Tips: 1192
