LOS ANGELES (AP) — ViacomCBS says it's cutting ties with Nick Cannon because of what the media giant called his 'hateful speech" and anti-Semitic theories. The company's move came in response to remarks made by Cannon on a podcast in which he discussed racial bias with a former Public Enemy member, Richard Griffin. According to NBC News, Cannon said on the podcast episode, which was shot last year but aired on June 30, that Black people were the "true Hebrews" and talked about anti-Semitic conspiracy theories involving the Rothschild family.Cannon produced "Wild 'n Out," a comedy improv series for VH1, the ViacomCBS-owned cable channel. He accused the company in a lengthy Facebook post of trying to silence an "outspoken black man" and said he wants full ownership of the "Wild 'n Out" brand. LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Police worked Saturday morning to disperse crowds in downtown Los Angeles as multiple businesses were looted following demonstrations against police brutality following the in-custody death of George Floyd in Minneapolis Monday .Hundreds were reportedly arrested, and at least five police officers were injured, multiple media outlets reported.The Target store at Seventh and Figueroa streets, a Rite Aid store at 7th and Hope streets, along with the 6th Street Market and the Starbucks on Sixth Street between Broadway and Main Street and jewelry stores near Sixth Street and Broadway were among the businesses looted just before midnight Friday.A trash can was set on fire near Olympic Boulevard and Hill Street and quickly extinguished by officers. Three fires were set near the intersection of Hill and Seventh streets, one in the intersection, another south of the intersection on Hill Street and a third on a sidewalk near a building.As Los Angeles firefighters arrived to extinguish the flames, someone in the crowd grabbed a department fire hose and tossed it into the fire burning in the intersection.At least one Los Angeles Police Department cruiser was tagged with graffiti.Police set up skirmish lines throughout the downtown area and, in at least one instance, fired non-lethal ammunition as they pushed a crowd out of the area, some in the crowd stopping to hide behind vehicles to throw objects at officers.At least 300 people were reportedly arrested, KABC7 reported. LOS ANGELES (AP) — Warner Bros. says it is delaying the release of Christopher Nolan's sci-fi thriller "Tenet" until Aug. 12, the latest delay for a film that many theater owners were hoping would kick-start the coronavirus-delayed summer season. The delay moves "Tenet" out of July, a month many theater chains had been eyeing reopening. The delay comes as coronavirus cases are surging in many U.S. locales. LOS ANGELES (AP) — The popular grocery chain Trader Joe's says it won't be changing ethnic-sounding labels on its line of Mexican, Chinese and other international foods, adding they are not racist. Earlier this month the company said it was looking at changing some labels. But now it says it has no problem with ethnic-food labels like Trader Jose's, Trader Ming's and Arabian Joe. "Decades ago, our Buying Team started using product names, like Trader Giotto’s, Trader José’s, Trader Ming’s, etc. We thought then—and still do—that this naming of products could be fun and show appreciation for other cultures," a press release from the company reads.The company says they were created years ago in a lighthearted effort to promote inclusion and that customers still like them. "We continue our ongoing evaluation, and those products that resonate with our customers and sell well will remain on our shelves," the company said.
