Walt Disney World has announced that the 2020 'Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party' at Magic Kingdom is canceled amid coronavirus concerns.Poor Jack Skellington, but at least there's Christmas, right? Well, maybe.Looking even further ahead, Disney said they are monitoring conditions for 'Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party' and the 'EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays,' including the Candlelight Procession. A decision on those events will be made later.Disney hopes to open the Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom parks on July 11, followed by Hollywood Studios and Epcot on July 15, but with new safety guidelines and limited crowds.The theme park will require employees and guests to wear masks and get temperature checks at park entrances.In order to keep capacity down, guests will need to make a reservation for park entry in advance. (KGTV) — Vista Unified School District union workers say they are worried their jobs are on the line and say the district could be looking at bankruptcy.Union workers rallied Thursday ahead of a district board meeting over a million budget shortfall. Union President Bill Faust represents 1,400 support staffers at Vista Unified, including custodians, secretaries and food service workers who are concerned for their jobs since those are historically among the first to be cut. Faust says the board approved almost million to add unnecessary 8th periods to two high schools and another 1,000 to fire the district's superintendent two weeks ago. He says the board is spending money it doesn't have."We are concerned. With this board mismanaging funding," Faust said. "How are we are going to keep our job when they add add add and we don't have any money and you are looking at .5 million."10News reached out to the superintendent's office for comment but have not heard back.No decisions have been made as to where the cuts will come from. 1074

VISTA, Calif. – A man was arrested Monday after authorities say he stabbed his wife and daughter inside their Vista home. The incident happened Sunday night just before 8 p.m. on the 1000 block of Corvalla Drive.According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, during a fight with his wife and daughter, 55-year-old Juventino Vazquez grabbed a knife from a closet.Following a struggle, Vazquez reportedly stabbed both his wife and daughter several times before leaving the home.Both victims were taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Vazquez was arrested Monday afternoon after a witness reported a suspicious person on the 900 block of Barsby Street.He was booked into jail for attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and violating a domestic violence restraining order with injuries. 831

WASHINGTON (AP) — A statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee that represented Virginia in the U.S. Capitol has been removed.Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam said in a statement that workers removed the statue from the National Statuary Hall Collection early Monday.“The Confederacy is a symbol of Virginia’s racist and divisive history, and it is past time we tell our story with images of perseverance, diversity, and inclusion,” said Northam.Each state is entitled to display two statues in the collection. Lee’s statue had stood with George Washington’s statue since 1909 as Virginia’s representatives in the Capitol.The Lee statue had been one among 13 located in the Crypt of the Capitol, representing the 13 original colonies.Northam had requested its removal and a state commission has recommended replacing Lee’s statue with a likeness of Barbara Johns.Johns was an American civil rights leader who protested poor conditions at her all-Black high school in the town of Farmville in 1951. Her court case became part of a landmark U.S. Supreme Court decision that struck down racial segregation in public schools.Virginia’s General Assembly must approve the replacement before a sculptor can be commissioned for the new statue. If approved, Johns would stand alongside Washington, and would be the only teenager represented in the collection.“I look forward to seeing a trailblazing young woman of color represent Virginia in the U.S. Capitol, where visitors will learn about Barbara Johns’ contributions to America and be empowered to create positive change in their communities just like she did,” said the governor.U.S. Sen.
