SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The San Diego International Auto Show announced Wednesday that its 2020 lineup was cancelled.The show was set to take place from December 31 through January 3.“After careful and extensive consideration of the health risks and other factors resulting from COVID-19, the New Car Dealers Association San Diego County will be unable to hold and unfortunately must cancel the San Diego International Auto Show,” the New Car Dealers Association of San Diego County said.The next event is scheduled to take place from December 30, 2021 through January 2, 2022.“As much as we wanted to move forward with the show for all of those who eagerly anticipate it each year, the outbreak of COVID-19 and the pandemic has resulted in a situation where we are unable to hold the show. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The San Diego City Council unanimously voted Tuesday to give final approval to place a measure on the November ballot that would change the city's police oversight structure.The current version is the Community Review Board; the ballot measure would replace it with a Committee on Police Practices."It is so desperately what the community wants and needs, so that we can build trust between the police department and the community," said Andrea St. Julian, co-chair of San Diegans for Justice, the group that wrote the ballot measure.The new committee would be appointed by the City Council, as opposed to the old board which was appointed by the mayor. The new committee would also have an independent lawyer and oversight from city staff not associated with the mayor's office or San Diego Police Department.St. Julian said these changes will help avoid conflicts of interest that the old board dealt with, especially because the CRB's lawyer was the City Attorney, who also acted as the lawyer for the police department.The new committee would also have broader power for investigations. It would be required to investigate any police shooting, as well as any time someone died while in police custody or while interacting with police.The committee could also investigate any other complaints against an officer and review all disciplinary action taken within the department."When a full investigation can be done by community members or at the direction of community members, people feel much more comfortable with the results," said St. Julian.Mayor Kevin Faulconer and County District Attorney Summer Stephan have both said they support the measure. I'm just lost for words. I don't know,” said Ruiz.Her friends and neighbors aren’t surprised.RELATED: Escondido man attacked by coyote“They have said they've seen coyotes wandering around. I'm also on the nextdoor app, and they said they've seen coyotes or a friend has seen coyotes snatch a dog and kill it.”Early August is also pupping season when newly-weaned coyotes venture out on their own for food and water.“Just like us, they're trying to find reprieve from the heat. Their figures for 2018 show coyote incidents are down compared to last year. In 2017, there were 142 coyote attacks. More than halfway through 2018, San Diego is on track to stay below that number, with 64 attacks.According to the website, there have been six reported pet deaths this year.“I believe we were getting one to two calls earlier this season. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - This week, a massive Mola mola fish stunned whale watchers in San Diego.The fish is a unique sight, appearing to look like a giant fish head with fins. It's also known as the sunfish. Domenic Biagini, owner and captain of Gone Whale Watching San Diego, says they specialize in giving people once in a lifetime encounters. "Whenever I give my opening spiel, I tell them I'll show them anything that moves," said Biagini.RELATED: Thar she blows! Where to whale watch in San Diego — by land or seaOn this trip, the massive Mola mola stole the show.Biagini says while mola is common here, they're usually 2 to 3 feet long in our waters. He believes the one they spotted was 7 to 8 feet. "When we came across this specific one, we were kind of blown away by the sheer magnitude of it," said Biagini.Biagini happened to have divers on his boat that day, who told him mola is one of the prized fish to swim with.
