As Walt Disney World and other Florida attractions prepare for re-opening in the coming weeks, the state reported another rise in coronavirus cases. Thursday morning, the Florida Department of Health reported 3,207 new cases and 43 new deaths. Since the first two deaths were announced on March 6, the toll in Florida has risen to 3,061, and 85,926 total cases. According to Thursday data from the state Agency for Health Care Administration, less than 25 percent of hospital adult intensive-care unit beds are available.A projection model from scientists at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the University of Pennsylvania warns Florida has "all of the markings of the next large epicenter of coronavirus transmission" and risks being the "worst it has ever been."Florida was one of 10 states that saw a record number of new COVID-19 cases this week.Testing in Florida has ramped up. So has the positive rate also has been trending up in the past week. The overall percent of positive tests stands at 5.7 percent as of Thursday, up from 5.6 percent the previous day and 5.5 percent the day before that. Florida reports having completed more than 1.5 million tests for COVID-19.The mortality rate involving positive cases is 3.6 percent in the state compared with 5.4 percent in the United States and 5.4 percent worldwide.Gov. AUSTIN, Texas. (KGTV) -- A series of explosions in Austin has terrified residents as hundreds of local and federal officials try and determine who is behind the incidents. The first explosion was set off on March 2 and killed 39-year-old Anthony Stephan House. Numerous other people have been killed or injured by the series of bombings including 17-year-old Draylen Mason, who was killed after a package bomb went off inside his home on March 12. Mason's mother was also injured in the explosion. A 75-year-old woman, 22-year-old man and a 23-year-old man were also all injured in the serial bombings. The six bombings left police in Austin warning residents to not take any chances, saying if it looks suspicious, don't approach it. The timeline below shows all six of the bombings federal officials believe are tied together:  887

As the pictures come in from along the Florida panhandle, especially from devastated Panama City and Mexico Beach, many of us are feeling a need to help those who lost their homes. Should you give cash, donate cleaning supplies or collect canned goods?Giving is good. But giving to a good charity — one that knows how to get the help to victims quickly — is even better. The Better Business Bureau and Charity Navigator are offering advice on how to donate and sharing which groups are best prepared to distribute your donation.Despite all the new high tech ways to donate, from crowdsourcing to charity apps, an oldie might be your best bet at first. 663

As the counting of ballots continue, one trend is emerging: the final result will be close. A potential consequence of that will be a recount. Perhaps in one state or in multiple states. RECOUNT RULESEach state handles recounts differently. For example, in Arizona, an automatic recount is triggered if the margin between candidates is less than or equal to 0.1 percent of the votes cast. In Georgia, candidates can request recounts if the margin is no more than .5 percent of total votes cast.DO RECOUNTS CHANGE ANYTHINGAccording to FairVote.org, recounts rarely change races. Since 1980, there have been 5,778 statewide elections. There have only been 31 completed statewide recounts.Only three have been overturned because of a recount.Perhaps the most famous recount of all was in Florida in 2000.But the 2000 Florida Recount only shifted the final margins by 1,247 votes or 0.02%In a recount in Wisconsin in the 2016 Presidential race, the final margin only changed by 571 votes. "I believe recounts in themselves are not in favor of those who have lost a race unless it's a very close margin," Dr. Eric Claville, a political scientist with Norfolk State University said. 1183
