The Anaheim Police confirmed on Monday that it is investigating the incident, but said the family has been uncooperative. "All parties were from the same family and were uncooperative. WASHINGTON, D.C. – Hundreds of people who visited a Washington D.C. church are being urged to self-quarantine after a reverend tested positive for the new coronavirus on Saturday. Mayor Muriel Bowser said Monday that those who visited Christ Church, Georgetown Episcopal on Feb. 24, and between Feb. 28 and March 3 could’ve been exposed to the virus. Visitors to Christ Church, Georgetown Episcopal on Feb 24th, and between Feb 28th and Mar 3rd could've been exposed to COVID-19, and DC Health recommends that anyone who visited on those dates isolate themselves at home for 14 days from the last time they visited the church.— Mayor Muriel Bowser (@MayorBowser) 675

While restaurants in some states start to open their doors to dine-in customers, bars and nightclubs are still closed in most places. Now, those businesses are getting creative when it comes to connecting with customers."My bar manager called me in the middle of the week saying she just saw a club in L.A. doing a DJ livestream and she said we should do that, too, to keep our customers well connected," said Chris Dauria, owner of Johnny's Hideaway in Atlanta, Georgia. Before COVID-19, Johnny's Hideaway would see up to 700 customers on a Saturday night. Their first virtual DJ livestream several weeks ago drew just as many viewers."It was really cool that 700 people were sitting in their living room or wherever, in their pajamas dancing around to the junk we play every night. That’s pretty cool," said Dauria.Johnny's Hideaway isn't alone. Nightclubs across the country are holding music livestream events, reaching out to their customers on social media and encouraging them to tune in. Stereo Nightclub in Chicago has been livestreaming DJ sessions with more than 33,000 people watching. Marquee nightclub in New York is doing the same."He's in the DJ booth by himself with one of my other DJs taking requests and doing the social media thing like 20 feet away from him. It’s the funniest thing you’ve ever seen," said Dauria. Dauria plans on holding live DJ sessions every weekend until they open their physical doors to dancing customers. "It's been really tough because I have a restaurant license, but we’re primarily known as a dance club. I get hit at least two to three times a day on social media with 'Hey, when are you going to open, don’t worry about COVID, we'll be safe when we dance,' just crazy requests," said Dauria. He says the livestreams are the only way they've been able to connect with roughly 90% of their customers. They have a restaurant in the club, as well, that has opened to diners, but most of their business comes from dancers on the weekends. "I think the one thing I’ve learned from this is, there are a ton of people out there who feel that it's their home away from home. They go there and dance and have a release and I think it’s important so at least by us just doing this four hours a week, there’s a Hideaway out there that’s coming back soon. Whenever it happens, it happens," said Dauria. These clubs are giving customers some happiness and music to dance to even if it's from the couch on Saturday nights. 2470

Waffle House says it is closing 420 restaurants across the country. In a Tuesday morning tweet, Waffle House said the vast majority of its locations would remain open.According to a map included in Waffle House's tweet, many of the chain's northernmost locations will close. Most of the restaurant's locations in Ohio, northern Virginia and Maryland are among those that will be shut down.Waffle House did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The closures come as the Trump administration has urged Americans to avoid eating in restaurant dining rooms, encouraging them instead to order take-out or go through drive-thrus at least through the weekend.FEMA has confirmed that they measure the severity of a disaster by how many Waffle Houses in an area remain open. Because the restaurants are open 24/7 and rarely close, a high number of Waffle House closures in an area can signal the area needs federal assistance. Waffle House released the following statement: Hour by hour, Waffle House’s reality is changing. We continue to adapt as different restrictions are imposed on how businesses can operate. This week, with stricter restrictions being implemented, our system sales have declined by about 70% below normal levels. So, we’ve made some painful decisions. Over this past week, 420 Waffle Houses across the country have temporarily closed. Some of those closures resulted from our consolidation of restaurant operations where it made sense to do so.During significant weather events such as hurricanes, we have used a systematic approach of utilizing our available resources to help recovering communities get back to normal as quickly as possible. Out of that approach, a measuring criterion known as the Waffle House Index has been born. The Index typically has been used to gauge the level of impact to the communities affected by natural disasters or storms. Never has the Waffle House Index been used to track the effects of an event that was not weather-related, until now. This week, we posted information on the number of Waffle House closures related to COVID-19. We referred to the Index as a way to help people understand how big of an impact this virus has had on the restaurant industry. The reference to “Code Red” also highlights the tremendous impacts that are being felt by many of our Associates and their families. With so few Customers visiting our restaurants, we are rapidly losing the ability to offer enough work hours for our Associates to earn money needed to live their lives and pay their bills. Hardest hit so far, are our restaurants in the Midwest and along parts of the Gulf Coast.Waffle House is striving to keep as many stores open for as long as we can, in order to support as many Associates as possible. Currently, some 1,528 stores are open in various capacities. Out of those stores, 135 are open on limited shifts. Another 1,278 stores are operating a take-out-only business while another 250 stores are able to offer limited-capacity, dine-in service with social distancing protocols in place. 3064

While beautiful spring temperatures have settled into the Plains and Midwest, folks there shouldn't get used to it. There's a storm on the way that's going to remind Midwesterners that winter's never over till it's over. The potential is there for a "bomb cyclone" to impact the Plains this week. That's an area of low pressure that drops 24 millibars in 24 hours -- aka a potent, rapidly intensifying storm system. This would be the second time in less than a month a storm of this magnitude has developed in the Plains. It's rare enough to have one form inland, much less two.Typically we see "bomb cyclones" form off the US East Coast in the form of nor'easters.Right now the forecast models have the storm teetering on the edge of bomb-cyclone criteria. Either way, this storm is forecast to unleash a variety of wild weather this week.Blizzard conditions likely for manyThis powerful storm is forecast to develop Tuesday in the Rockies, where it will rapidly intensify and bring blizzard conditions to the Plains on Wednesday.Overnight temperatures in the Plains will drop nearly 40 degrees in just 12 hours, including in Denver -- which is expecting a high of 80 degrees Tuesday and blizzard conditions by Wednesday night.Winter storm warnings and watches stretch from the Rockies to the Great Lakes. There are blizzard warnings for almost 4 million people from eastern Colorado to southwestern Minnesota. Up to 2 feet of snow will be possible with wind gusts of 45-55 mph across South Dakota and Nebraska, along with white-out conditions.A potentially historic winter stormThursday the storm will reach the Midwest, bringing with it the heavy snow and wind. A foot of snow is possible for places like Minneapolis, where forecasters are calling for "a potentially historic winter storm."Winds will gust up to 45mph.While an April snowstorm seems like a punch in the gut, April snowstorms do happen. 1914
