A 64-year-old Painesville Township, Ohio resident was hailed as a hero after authorities say he stopped a man who chased a mother and her two children from their home after he allegedly broke in.Police said the resident, Thomas Jones, opened his door after he heard his neighbor pounding on it and yelling for help.According to authorities, Jones' neighbor and her two children had just run from their house after a 30-year-old man allegedly forced his way into their home through the back door. The suspect chased the woman into her bedroom and then laid down on the floor claiming someone was trying to kill him, police said.The woman was able to escape the bedroom and run from the residence with her 5 and 7-year-old children and call 911.Listen to the 911 call below. Warning: The call contains graphic language.A short time later, the suspect came across the street and onto the porch in an attempt to gain entry to the house where the woman and her children took shelter.Jones and the suspect fought until deputies arrived, at which time the 30-year-old was taken into custody.The suspect was identified as Bobby Collier, of East Jackson Street, Painesville.Police said Collier had an active warrant out for a parole violation. It also appeared that he was under the influence of an unknown drug.Collier was charged with aggravated burglary, burglary, assault, criminal damaging, and aggravated trespass.Jones later told the sheriff's department, he "only did what anyone would do."The sheriff's department said they "commend Thomas Jones for his selfless act and thank him for his outstanding efforts." 1643

(KGTV) - Neighbors in San Marcos are sounding the alarm on a suspected prowler after his antics were caught on two different doorbell cameras.The first video from a homeowner in the Richland area of San Marcos shows a man cover his face while peering into a stranger’s home and whistle at the dog inside in an attempt to stop it from barking.The second video from the front door of Sam Ilaian’s house captures the man loitering in his driveway before walking up to take the ring camera.“He pulled it off the wall completely,” said Ilaian, “brackets and everything.”The Sheriff’s department has the video now and Ilaian says the neighborhood is a little more vigilant.As for his front door, “I think now I’ll install more cameras there,” said Ilaian.  763

A bipartisan group of lawmakers introduced legislation Wednesday that aims to overhaul the way sexual harassment is treated on Capitol Hill, as fresh stories of misconduct involving sitting members of Congress have rocked Washington this week.Rep. Jackie Speier of California and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand of New York, both Democrats, unveiled companion bills in the House and Senate to reform the sexual harassment complaint process on the Hill and boost transparency around the sensitive issue. (KGTV) -- The Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station said Thursday they’ve had to ask people to stop donating after receiving an overwhelming amount of donations for the Holy Fire.According to a post on the station’s Facebook page, the donations have taken up so much space, deputies are running out of room to store the items.A photo shows boxes of snacks piled atop cases of water and Gatorade. Though the department appreciates the donations, they said they plan and prepare for events such as the Holy Fire, “so we are good!”The post went on to thank the community for their support.
