SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Dozens of people came out to see a country music concert at Moonshine Beach in Pacific Beach Thursday night.The concert was scheduled before the Borderline Bar and Grill shooting in Thousand Oaks Thursday night.  Brodie Stewart was opening for Colt Ford.Country Music Stewart told 10News ahead of the show he would hold a moment of silence for the victims of Borderline during his show. He also said proceeds from his merchandise sales would also be donated to victim’s families.“It’s hard to talk about because it’s so close for our friends and the country music community,” Stewart said. “It’s been devastating.”Becky Williams, a long-time country music fan, said it’s unfortunate that it was the second attack in a country music venue in just a little over a year.  The Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas in October 2017, was the deadliest attack by a lone gunman in America.  Despite the repeated attacks, Williams said that she didn’t think twice about attending the concert Thursday night.“Heck no, country music is my life,” Williams told 10News.Survivors from the Las Vegas shooting said the Borderline shooting reopened old wounds and churned up former emotions.“I still haven’t been able to really cope with it, and it brought that back up to the surface,” said Kyle Hurd, who survived the Las Vegas shooting.Others shared the same sentiment, saying it was the best place anyone part of the country music could be.“We love that we can get together and mourn together and we understand each other,” Kimberly Burroughs said. 1578

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Every December, for just two nights, Balboa Park twinkles with thousands of lights and just as many visitors to celebrate the holidays.December Nights will cover the park in holiday cheer on Dec. 6, 3 p.m. to 11 p.m., and Dec. 7, 12 p.m. to 11 p.m. The park will be filled with light displays, bands and performances, attractions, shopping, and delicious foods from the park's International Cottages to Spanish Village.The massive celebration is ranked the fifth best holiday festival in the U.S. by USA Today readers and is the largest free event in San Diego, attracting about 360,000 visitors.RELATED: San Diego holiday tree lightings to catch this seasonAnother big draw to the celebration: participating museums offer free admission from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. each day. Until the fun kicks off, the public can vote for the annual San Diego tradition in USA Today's 10Best contest for "best public holiday lights display." Currently, December Nights is ranked second to Riverside's Festival of Lights celebration. Voting is open until Dec. 2 at 9 a.m.TransportationFree and paid parking is available but limited. Shuttles are available to visitors, picking up at Ash St., between 5th and 6th Avenues from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday.Public transit near December Nights will also be available. The three closest stops will be at City College, 5th Ave. Trolley Station, and at Park Blvd. and University Ave.Rideshare is available through the event's official partner, Lyft. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- From Teddy Bears to cereal boxes, the TSA gave an exclusive look at the alarming items used to conceal explosives at the airport. 4.1 million travelers are expected to travel in and out of San Diego this summer, making it busier than ever. “It may seem like a pain on some travel days taking off your shoes dropping them in a bin and separating a laptop in another but it could be saving your life.”If you’ve traveled through an airport, you’re no stranger to the TSA checkpoint. “Our officers need a clear view of the electronic itself making sure circuitry, the electronics inside of it haven’t been tampered with.”It’s not just electronics, but stuffed animals are also used to disguise explosives. “Because they think that our officers would be disarmed because it’s a child item.”From coffee beans to baby formula and peanut butter, TSA has seen it all. “We’re in no way saying every passenger is bringing these types of items but it only takes one and we really need to get it right every single time.” 1036
