According to National Weather Service data, the state averages 12 tornadoes in the month of April alone. "On the whole, across the United States, we have seen around half the number of eyewitnessed tornado reports that we would normally expect by this time of year," Dr. Patrick Marsh, a meteorologist at the Storm Prediction Center, told CNN. Meteorologists are blaming, or crediting, a jet stream pattern that has sent big snow storms into the Upper Midwest for the decreased number of tornadoes. The pattern has prevented warm moist air from setting up in the Plains, which has cut off any fuel for potential tornadoes. According to the Storm Prediction Center, the upcoming weekend appears to void of any major severe weather outbreaks. The Food and Drug Administration approved on Wednesday a treatment for the Ebola virus. This is the first FDA-approved treatment for Zaire ebolavirus infection in adults and kids.Zaire ebolavirus is one of four Ebola virus species that can cause potentially deadly infections. It is transmitted through direct contact with blood, tissue or body fluids of an infected person or wild animal.The treatment, Inmazeb, is a mixture of three monoclonal antibodies and was created by Regeneron Pharmaceuticals. The three antibodies work together to bind to the glycoprotein on the surface of the Ebola virus and block it from entry into the body’s cells.Inmazeb was tested in the Democratic Republic of the Congo during an Ebola virus outbreak in 2018-2019 through a partnership between the local government and the National Institutes of Health.A vaccine for Ebola virus was approved by the FDA in December 2019.Regeneron is also the company behind an experimental antibody cocktail that was given to President Donald Trump following his diagnosis of COVID-19, and which he said “cured” him. Trump was also prescribed the antiviral drug remdesivir and the steroid dexamethasone at the time.Regeneron’s COVID-19 treatment is a mix of two powerful antibodies that are believed to boost the immune response to the coronavirus. The family of Stephon Clark, the 22-year-old black man shot and killed by Sacramento Police, will be exploring "every legal remedy possible" in search of justice, according to their attorney Benjamin Crump.Speaking to CNN on Sunday, Crump said Clark's death should not be "swept under the rug." Crump also called for accountability from both sides."There's great mistrust" between communities of color and police, Crump told CNN's Dan Simon. The Chicago Police Department is under fire after a video surfaced showing department officers helping the Norfolk Southern Police in an operation that used "bait trucks," container trucks filled with goods left to attract potential thieves.The Facebook video, shot last week by community activist Charles McKenzie, shows a white unmarked truck parked in the largely black Englewood neighborhood."The police parked a truck with boxes of Nike shoes in front of kids ... and when people hop in the truck the police hopping out on them," McKenzie wrote on Facebook.The truck was part of a surveillance operation, nicknamed "Operation Trailer Trap" by police, used to target individuals who had been breaking into freight containers at Norfolk Southern rail yards, Norfolk Southern told CNN. The rail company has its own police force.A man was arrested on August 2 as part of the sting and charged with burglary. The Cook County State's Attorney's Office said the charges against the suspect were dropped on Thursday.
