SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A war veteran who used to deliver meals to seniors in the North County is now receiving them himself.City councilman Mark Kersey honored Jim Munday on Wednesday morning for his contributions. This week, the long-time Rancho Bernardo resident will celebrate a birthday most of us can only hope to reach—102 years old.Councilman Kersey brought him a blanket, flowers, some food, and a special certificate in honor of his birthday and thanking him for all of his contributions to the Meals on Wheels of San Diego County, but it's even more meaningful because Jim was once a Meals on Wheels volunteer himself.“He started delivering when he was 90 and now he's 102, so he's a pretty special guy,” Kersey said. At 102, Munday is quiet, modest, and hard of hearing but still very much aware of the world around him.“A good day for a birthday party,” he said as he sat outside. The World War II vet fought in the Battle of the Bulge, receiving several medals including a Purple Heart and Bronze Star.His own artwork lines his living room. He started painting when was 90 and says he learned from watching Bob Ross on PBS.In 2003, Munday’s wife, Mildred, passed away, but their great-grandson, Hudson, and daughter Millie, were both on hand for this major milestone.“He's a very honest, generous person, and I'm very proud of him,” Millie said. Now his community is doing the same for him.“To be able to give back to someone who's given so much is something that makes San Diego and Rancho Bernardo a special place,” Kersey said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A vandal targeted at least a dozen vehicles at a popular shopping center in University City on Friday, flattening tires across one of the parking lots."It's very upsetting," said Camille Bsaibes.Bsaibes showed 10news a Toyota RAV4 with a flat tire. The vehicle belongs to his son. Bsaibes, who owns Amardeen restaurant, located in the Renaissance Towne Centre, experienced his own flat tire Friday while driving his van. Bsaibes didn't notice it until he was one the road."When I was driving, I was shaking ... wondering why it was shaking," said Bsaibes.Bsaibes pulled over and found three of his tires flat. His total bill to replace tires? Nearly 0. That day, three of his employees also felt their tires go flat as they were driving home from work. They were all parked in the same back lot. It was a similar story for four employees of the L-Transformation beauty boutique. In all, at least 12 vehicles from 4 of the businesses were hit in one day. It happened in broad daylight at the busy shopping center, sometime between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m."The tire shop said somebody used a long, sharp object and punctured the side of the wheel," said Bsaibes.The flat tires weren't immediately obvious and didn't become a problem until the vehicle were on the road. Many working at the shopping center wonder if that was on purpose. Was the vandal hoping to cause havoc on the roads? "I'm glad everyone is safe. It could have been worse. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- All lanes of eastbound Interstate 8 have reopened after a three-vehicle crash caused four lanes of the interstate to be closed. The crash happened near the College Road off-ramp around 3:45 a.m. The California Highway Patrol gave few details on what exactly caused the crash.A driver of the SUV involved in the crash said another car drove the wrong way down the ramp and smashed into his vehicle. A third vehicle then crashed into the two others.Two people inside one of the vehicles were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.CHP says one of those inside the sedan at the time of the crash may have been thrown from the car. The man is also being investigated for possibly driving under the influence, according to CHP.The driver of the SUV was uninjured while the driver of the third vehicle is being investigated for driving under the influence. 898

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A woman was arrested Thursday on suspicion of running over and killing a man she had been arguing with at a Kearny Mesa parking lot. San Diego police said 33-year-old Latisha Ingram and an unidentified 25-year-old man were arguing in a parking lot in the 4600 block of Convoy Street at around 11:30 p.m. Thursday when the altercation escalated. Kiana Smith was in the middle of her shift at Rakiraki ramen restaurant when she heard the noise outside. Ingram was belligerent, Smith said, adding she had been turned away by a bartender at O’Brien’s. "She turned her down because she was way too drunk, then she made her way this way, and a server saw her before I did, saying she was way too drunk, she couldn't even walk." Smith told 10News the male victim, who had been waiting on a table with his girlfriend, was trying to stop Ingram from driving. "It looked like she was trying to get in her car, but she was obviously way too drunk to drive, so the guy was trying to stop her from driving,” said Smith. According to police, Ingram then drove away while the man was holding onto her car. Police said Ingram drove out of the parking lot and turned southbound onto Convoy Street when the man let go and was allegedly run over. "He ended up on the hood, and she made the right turn, and he completely flew off," said Smith.The man was rushed to the hospital, where he died from his injuries, police said. 10News learned Ingram returned to the area about 30 minutes later and was arrested without incident. Ingram was booked on suspicion of felony hit-and-run and felony DUI. 10News learned she has a prior DUI charge from 2011. Smith said returning to work Friday was tough. 1702
