When his finances got tight this past winter, Mezen needed an alternate way to make some side money.It just so happened that Airbnb had opened-up an experience in Seattle. Mezen decided to sign up and create a simple downtown walking tour. Mezen says, "I wanted to come up with something that was walking and very photogenic and fun."Other hosts offer experiences like, surf lessons, sushi making classes and silent disco yoga. However, Mezen wanted to create walking tour that took visitors to the most Instagramable places in the Emerald City.If you decide to create an experience in your own city, Mezen suggests making it a point to showcase the famous places.The application process is quick and as long as you have some free time, anyone can do it.Mezen says, "it gives you a chance to meet other people and see your city through a different lens."Right now, Airbnb's new program is only in select cities like Seattle, but it could be coming to a city near you. There are currently only a few treatments in helping to fight COVID-19, and one is antibodies from a Coronavirus survivor. But gay men wanting to donate are being faced with hurdles.A donation ban started with a 1980s restriction in the height of the AIDS and HIV crisis when the federal government created a lifetime ban on blood donations from gay men.The rule was replaced in 2015 with a regulation that requires a year of abstinence to donate blood.In April of this year, the FDA revised the abstinence period for gay men to donate blood or plasma from 12 months to three months in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic.Chris Sanders with the Tennessee Equality Project says this is a start but these guidelines are not created equal."My call to action would be that the Congress of the United States will hold hearings on this rule and put pressure on the FDA to make this change," said Sanders.As the American Red Cross is pushing for more COVID-19 survivors to donate their antibodies to help sick patients, Sanders says some who are willing to help are being turned away."I talked to a gay man in East Nashville today who has survived COVID-19, and I asked him if the ban weren’t in place would you consider plasma donation and he said he would," said Sanders, "There are potential donors in Tennessee who would get turned away because of this unscientific, outdated FDA rule."Gay rights advocates say if this country wants to save more lives it will review what they call outdated policies.This story was originally reported by Kelsey Gibbs at WTVF. 1565

Three Michigan middle school students were hospitalized Wednesday after they unknowingly consumed Cookie Crisp marijuana edibles, according to Warren police. Police say the eighth graders ate the cereal given to them by a ninth grader. The cereal reportedly contained marijuana oil. The students, who attend Michigan Math and Science Academy on Dequindre, consumed the cereal before school and later complained they were dizzy and lightheaded, according to police.The girls were sent to a nearby hospital. The older student has been detained by police. Police said parents of the victims and the principal were notified.  659

Travis Reinking was arrested and charged with four counts of criminal homicide in the Waffle House mass shooting in Tennessee. His bond was set for million, but many were outraged by the fact that he was even given a bond.According to Nashville attorney David Raybin, under Tennessee law, every criminal suspect, except those in death penalty cases, are entitled to a bond.Prosecutors could still decide to seek the death penalty against Reinking, but that decision is a long way off from being made.It is possible that someone either Reinking or his family could post the 10 percent or 0,000 with a bonding company and he could walk out of jail.However, Raybin made it clear there is no way Reinking will get out on bond.In the unlikely event the suspect makes bond, then several things could and would happen. The district attorney could immediately request a hearing to increase the bond to or million.The district attorney could also ask the judge to put very onerous conditions on the bond such as house arrest, an electronic monitoring ankle bracelet, 24-hour supervision, etc.More Stories:  1162
